One Of The Greatest Strains In Life Is The Strain Of Waiting For God.

God Seems To Have A Delightful Way Of Upsetting The Things We Have Calculated On Without Taking Him Into Account. Am I Always In Contact With Reality, Or Do I Only Pray When Things Have Gone Wrong, When There Is A Disturbance In The Moments Of My Life?

Prayer Is Often A Temptation To Bank On A Miracle Of God Instead Of On A Moral Issue, I.e., It Is Much Easier To Ask God To Do My Work Than It Is To Do It Myself. If Sympathy Is All That Human Beings Need, Then The Cross Of Christ Is An Absurdity And There Is Absolutely No Need For It. What The World Needs Is Not "a Little Bit Of Love," But Major Surgery. If You Think You Are Helping Lost People With Your Sympathy And Understanding, You Are A Traitor To Jesus Christ. Isaiah Was So Attuned To God, Because Of The Great Crisis He Had Just Endured, That The Call Of God Penetrated His Soul. The Majority Of Us Cannot Hear Anything But Ourselves. We Think Rightly Or Wrongly About Prayer According To The Conception We Have In Our Minds Of Prayer. If We Think Of Prayer As The Breath In Our Lungs And The Blood From Our Hearts, We Think Rightly. The Blood Flows Ceaselessly, And Breathing Continues Ceaselessly; We Are Not Conscious Of It, But It Is Always Going On. We Are Not Always Conscious Of Jesus Keeping Us In Perfect Joint With God, But If We Are Obeying Him, He Always Is.

If You Have Ever Prayed In The Dawn You Will Ask Yourself Why You Were So Foolish As Not To Do It Always: It Is Difficult To Get Into Communion With God In The Midst Of The Hurly-burly Of The Day.

Complete Weakness And Dependence Will Always Be The Occasion For The Spirit Of God To Manifest His Power.

Keep Your Life In Its Constant Contact With God That His Surprising Power May Break Out On The Right Hand And On The Left. Always Be In A State Of Expectancy, And See That You Leave Room For God To Come In As He Likes.
