Our Lord's First Obedience Was To The Will Of His Father, Not To The Needs Of Men; The Saving Of Men Was The Natural Outcome Of His Obedience To The Father.

Sanctification Means The Impartation Of The Holy Qualities Of Jesus Christ. It Is His Patience, His Love, His Holiness, His Faith, His Purity, His Godliness, That Is Manifested In And Through Every Sanctified Soul. Sanctification Is Not Drawing From Jesus The Power To Be Holy; It Is Drawing From Jesus The Holiness That Was Manifested In Him, And He Manifests It In Me.

He Must Deny His Right To Himself, And He Must Realize Who Jesus Christ Is Before He Will Bring Himself To Do It. Beware Of Refusing To Go To The Funeral Of Your Own Independence

We Actually Slander And Dishonor God By Our Very Eagerness To Serve Him Without Knowing Him.

Self Pity Is Of The Devil, And If I Wallow In It, I Cannot Be Used By God For His Purpose In The World.

The Real Test Of A Saint Is Not One's Willingness To Preach The Gospel, But One's Willingness To Do Something Like Washing The Disciples' Feet - That Is, Being Willing To Do Those Things That Seem Unimportant In Human Estimation But Count As Everything To God.

The Aim Of The Missionary Is To Do God's Will, Not To Be Useful, Not To Win The Heathan; He Is Useful And Does Win The Heathen, But That Is Not His Aim. His Aim Is To Do The Will Of His Lord.

If We Are In Christ The Whole Basis Of Our Goings Is God, Not Conceptions Of God, Not Ideas Of God, But God Himself. We Do Not Need Any More Ideas About God, The World Is Full Of Ideas About God, They Are All Worthless, Because The Ideas Of God In Anyone’s Head Are Of No More Use Than Our Own Ideas. What We Need Is A Real God, Not More Ideas About Him.

If We Pray Only Because We Want Answers, We Will Become Irritated And Angry With God. We Receive An Answer Every Time We Pray, But It Does Not Always Come In The Way We Expect, And Our Spiritual Irritation Shows Our Refusal To Identify Ourselves Truly With Our Lord In Prayer. We Are Not Here To Prove That God Answers Prayer, But To Be Living Trophies Of God’s Grace.

We Are In Danger Of Forgetting That We Cannot Do What God Does, And That God Will Not Do What We Can Do. We Cannot Save Ourselves Nor Sanctify Ourselves, God Does That; But God Will Not Give Us Good Habits, He Will Not Give Us Character, He Will Not Make Us Walk Aright. We Have To Do All That Ourselves.

Anything That Belittles Or Obliterates The Holiness Of God By A False View Of The Love Of God, Is Untrue To The Revelation Of God Given By Jesus Christ.

We Must Never Put Our Dreams Of Success As God's Purpose For Us; His Purpose May Be Exactly The Opposite. His Purpose Is That I Depend On Him And In His Power Now. His End Is The Process. It Is The Process, Not The End, Which Is Glorifying To God....his Purpose Is For This Minute, Not For Something In The Future. We Have Nothing To Do With The 'afterwards' Of Obedience. If We Have A Further End In View, We Do Not Pay Sufficient Attention To The Immediate Present; If We Realize That Obedience Is The End, Then Each Moment As It Comes Is Precious.

It Is A Life Of Faith, Not Of Intellect And Reason, But A Life Of Knowing Who Makes Us “go.

The Spirit Is The First Power We Practically Experience, But The Last Power We Come To Understand.

The First Thing We Realize When We Come To Jesus Is That He Pays No Attention Whatever To Our Natural Affinities. We Have The Notion That We Can Consecrate Our Gifts To God. You Cannot Consecrate What Is Not Yours; There Is Only One Thing You Can Consecrate To God, And That Is Your Right To Yourself (romans 12:1). If You Will Give God Your Right To Yourself, He Will Make A Holy Experiment Out Of You. God’s Experiments Always Succeed

God Can Never Make Us Wine If We Object To The Fingers He Uses To Crush Us With.

Spend Plenty Of Time With God; Let Other Things Go, But Don't Neglect Him. We Are Not Here To Do Work For God, We Are Here To Be Workers With Him, Those Through Whom He Can Do His Work.

It Is Misleading To Imagine That We Are Developed In Spite Of Our Circumstances, For We Are Developed Because Of Them. It Is Mastery In Circumstances That Is Needed, Not Mastery Over Them.

I Must Learn That The Purpose Of My Life Belongs To God, Not Me. God Is Using Me From His Great Personal Perspective, And All He Asks Of Me Is That I Trust Him. ... When I Stop Telling God What I Want, He Can Freely Work His Will In Me Without Any Hindrance. ... Self-pity Is Of The Devil, And If I Wallow In It I Cannot Be Used By God For His Purpose In The World.

Spiritual Lust--'i Must Have It At Once'--causes Me To Demand An Answer From God, Instead Of Seeking God Himself Who Gives The Answer. Is Today 'the Third Day' And He Has Still Not Done What I Expected? Whenever We Insist That God Should Give Us An Answer To Prayer We Are Off Track. The Purpose Of Prayer Is That We Get A Hold Of God, Not Of The Answer.

The People Who Influence Us Are Those Who Have Stood Unconsciously For The Right Thing. They Are Like The Stars And The Lilies, And The Joy Of God Flows Through Them All The Time.

There Comes The Baffling Call Of God In Our Lives Also. The Call Of God Can Never Be Stated Explicitly; It Is Implicit. The Call Of God Is Like The Call Of The Sea, No One Hears It But The One Who Has The Nature Of The Sea In Him. It Cannot Be Stated Definitely What The Call Of God Is To, Because His Call Is To Be In Comradeship With Himself, For His Own Purposes, And The Test Is To Believe That God Knows What He Is After.

The Purpose Of Prayer Is To Reveal The Presence Of God Equally Present, All The Time, In Every Condition.

God Does Not Give Us Overcoming Life; He Gives Us Life As We Overcome.

It Is Not What A Man Does That Is Of Final Importance, But What He Is In What He Does. The Atmosphere Produced By A Man, Much More Than His Activities, Has The Lasting Influence.

What Hinders Me From Hearing Is That I Am Taken Up With Other Things. It Is Not That I Will Not Hear God, But I Am Not Devoted In The Right Place. I Am Devoted To Things, To Service, To Convictions, And God May Say What He Likes But I Do Not Hear Him.
