The Call Of God Is Like The Call Of The Sea, No One Hears It But The One Who Has The Nature Of The Sea In Him. It Cannot Be Stated Definitely What The Call Of God Is To, Because His Call Is To Be In Comradeship With Himself, For His Own Purposes, And The Test Is To Believe That God Knows What He Is After.

We Have To Recognize That Sin Is A Fact, Not A Defect; Sin Is Red-handed Mutiny Against God. Either God Or Sin Must Die In My Life...if Sin Rules In Me, God's Life In Me Will Be Killed; If God Rules In Me, Sin In Me Will Be Killed.

Human Nature, If Healthy, Demands Excitement; And If It Does Not Obtain Its Thrilling Excitement In The Right Way, It Will Seek It In The Wrong. God Never Makes Bloodless Stoics; He Makes No Passionless Saints.

We All Know People Who Have Been Made Much Meaner And More Irritable And More Intolerable To Live With By Suffering: It Is Not Right To Say That All Suffering Perfects. It Only Perfects One Type Of Person ...... The One Who Accepts The Call Of God In Christ Jesus.

A Ready Person Never Needs To Get Ready.

The Test Is The Sixty Seconds Of Every Minute, And The Sixty Minutes Of Every Hour, Not Our Times Of Prayer And Devotional Meetings.

The People Who Influence Us Most Are Not Those Who Buttonhole Us And Talk To Us, But Those Who Live Their Lives Like The Stars In Heaven And The Lilies In The Field, Perfectly Simply And Unaffectedly. Those Are The Lives That Mould

The Strain Of Life Is What Builds Our Strength. If There Is No Strain, There Will Be No Strength.

Beware Of Reasoning About God's Word - Obey It.

Isaiah Was So Attuned To God, Because Of The Great Crisis He Had Just Endured, That The Call Of God Penetrated His Soul. The Majority Of Us Cannot Hear Anything But Ourselves. And We Cannot Hear Anything God Says. But To Be Brought To The Place Where We Can Hear The Call Of God Is To Be Profoundly Changed.

Joy Comes From Seeing The Complete Fulfillment Of The Specific Purpose For Which I Was Created And Born Again, Not From Successfully Doing Something Of My Own Choosing.

Let The Attitude Of Your Life Be A Continual Willingness To "go Out" In Dependence Upon God, And Your Life Will Have A Sacred And Inexpressible Charm About It That Is Very Satisfying To Jesus. You Must Learn To "go Out" Through Your Convictions, Creeds, Or Experiences Until You Come To The Point In Your Faith Where There Is Nothing Between Yourself And God.

Do Not Have As Your Motive The Desire To Be Known As A Praying Man. Get An Inner Chamber In Which To Pray Where No One Knows You Are Praying, Shut The Door, And Talk To God In Secret.

If We Have Never Had The Experience Of Taking Our Commonplace Religious Shoes Off Our Commonplace Religious Feet, And Getting Rid Of All The Undue Familiarity With Which We Approach God, It Is Questionable Whether We Have Ever Stood In His Presence.

When A Man’s Heart Is Right With God The Mysterious Utterances Of The Bible Are Spirit And Life To Him. Spiritual Truth Is Discernible Only To A Pure Heart, Not To A Keen Intellect. It Is Not A Question Of Profundity Of Intellect, But Of Purity Of Heart.

Humble Yourself"--it Is A Humbling Experience To Knock At God's Door--you Have To Knock With The Crucified Thief. "to Him That Knocketh, It Shall Be Opened.

We Read Some Things In The Bible Three Hundred And Sixty-five Times And They Mean Nothing To Us, Then All Of A Sudden We See What God Means, Because In Some Particular We Have Obeyed God, And Instantly His Nature Is Opened Up.

God Does Not Expect Us To Imitate Jesus Christ; He Expects Us To Allow The Life Of Jesus To Be Manifested In Our Moral Flesh.

Earnestness Is Not By Any Means Everything; It Is Very Often A Subtle Form Of Pious Pride Because It Is Obsessed With The Method And Not With The Master.

Do Not Expect God Always To Give You His Thrilling Minutes, But Learn To Live In The Domain Of Drudgery By The Power Of God.

The Test Of A Man’s Religious Life And Character Is Not What He Does In The Exceptional Moments Of Life, But What He Does In The Ordinary Times, When There Is Nothing Tremendous Or Exciting On. The Worth Of A Man Is Revealed In His Attitude To Ordinary Things When He Is Not Before The Footlights.
