We Tend To Set Up Success In Christian Work As Our Purpose, But Our Purpose Should Be To Display The Glory Of God In Human Life, To Live A Life "hidden With Christ In God" In Our Everyday Human Conditions.

Suppose God Wants To Teach You To Say, "i Know How To Be Abased"--are You Ready To Be Offered Up Like That? Are You Ready To Be Not So Much As A Drop In A Bucket--to Be So Hopelessly Insignificant That You Are Never Thought Of Again In Connection With The Life You Served? Are You Willing To Spend And Be Spent; Not Seeking To Be Ministered Unto, But To Minister?

Some Prayers Are Followed By Silence (from God) Because They Are Wrong, Others Because They Are Bigger Than One Can Understand. It Will Be A Wonderful Moment For Some Of Us When We Stand Before God And Find That The Prayers We Clamored For In Early Days And Imagined Were Never Answered, Have Been Answered In The Most Amazing Way, And That God's Silence Has Been The Sign Of The Answer.

If We Rely On The Holy Spirit, We Shall Find That Our Prayers Become More And More Inarticulate; And When They Are Inarticulate, Reverence Grows Deeper And Deeper.

It Is Better To Run The Risk Of Being Considered Indecisive, Better To Be Uncertain And Not Promise, Than To Promise And Not Fulfill.

God Did Not Direct His Call To Isaiah— Isaiah Overheard God Saying, ". . . Who Will Go For Us?" The Call Of God Is Not Just For A Select Few But For Everyone. Whether I Hear God’s Call Or Not Depends On The Condition Of My Ears, And Exactly What I Hear Depends Upon My Spiritual Attitude.

It Is A Trap To Presume That God Wants To Make Us Perfect Specimens Of What He Can Do— God’s Purpose Is To Make Us One With Himself.

There Is A Call To Spiritual Perseverance. A Call Not To Hang On And Do Nothing, But To Work Deliberately, Knowing With Certainty That God Will Never Be Defeated.

God Can Never Make Us Wine If We Object To The Fingers He Uses To Crush Us With.

If We Pray Only Because We Want Answers, We Will Become Irritated And Angry With God. We Receive An Answer Every Time We Pray, But It Does Not Always Come In The Way We Expect, And Our Spiritual Irritation Shows Our Refusal To Identify Ourselves Truly With Our Lord In Prayer. We Are Not Here To Prove That God Answers Prayer, But To Be Living Trophies Of God’s Grace.

Our Lord Never Lays Down The Conditions Of Discipleship As The Conditions Of Salvation.

Many Of Us Have A Mental Conception Of What A Christian Should Be, And The Lives Of The Saints Become A Hindrance To Our Concentration On God.

The Characteristic Of The New Birth Is That I Yield Myself So Completely To God That Christ Is Formed In Me.

We Are Not Meant To Be Seen As God's Perfect, Bright-shining Examples, But To Be Seen As The Everyday Essence Of Ordinary Life Exhibiting The Miracle Of His Grace.

Keep Your Life In Its Constant Contact With God That His Surprising Power May Break Out On The Right Hand And On The Left. Always Be In A State Of Expectancy, And See That You Leave Room For God To Come In As He Likes.

True Intercession Involves Bringing The Person, Or The Circumstance That Seems To Be Crashing In On You, Before God, Until You Are Changed By His Attitude Toward That Person Or Circumstance. People Describe Intercession By Saying, "it Is Putting Yourself In Someone Else’s Place." That Is Not True! Intercession Is Putting Yourself In God’s Place; It Is Having His Mind And His Perspective.

You May Often Have To Watch Jesus Christ Wreck A Life Before He Saves It.

Not Every Man Can Carry A Full Cup. Sudden Elevation Frequently Leads To Pride And A Fall. The Most Exacting Test Of All To Survive Is Prosperity.

Our Lord Did Not Say It Was Wrong To Pray In The Corners Of The Street, But He Did Say It Was Wrong To Have The Motive To "be Seen Of Men".

But The Miracle Of The Redemptive Reality Of God Is That The Worst And The Vilest Offender Can Never Exhaust The Depths Of His Love.

Living A Life Of Faith Means Never Knowing Where You Are Being Led - But It Does Mean Loving And Knowing The One Who Is Leading. It Is Literally A Life Of Faith, Not Of Understanding And Reason- - A Life Of Knowing Him Who Calls Us To Go.

Quit Praying About Yourself And Spend Your Life For The Sake Of Others As The Bondservant Of Jesus. That Is The True Meaning Of Being Broken Bread And Poured-out Wine In Real Life.

Watch Your Motive Before God; Have No Other Motive In Prayer Than To Know Him.

We Tend To Use Prayer As A Last Resort, But God Wants It To Be Our First Line Of Defense. We Pray When There's Nothing Else We Can Do, But God Wants Us To Pray Before We Do Anything At All. Most Of Us Would Prefer, However, To Spend Our Time Doing Something That Will Get Immediate Results. We Don't Want To Wait For God To Resolve Matters In His Good Time Because His Idea Of 'good Time' Is Seldom In Sync With Ours.

The Greatest Answer To Prayer Is That I Am Brought Into A Perfect Understanding With God, And That Alters My View Of Actual Things.

God Never Forces A Person's Will Into Surrender, And He Never Begs. He Patiently Waits Until That Person Willingly Yields To Him. True Surrender Is A Matter Of Being 'united Together [with Jesus] In The Likeness Of His Death' (romans 6:5) Until Nothing Ever Appeals To You That Did Not Appeal To Him.
