We Should Reflect On The Idea That Since The Beginning Of Time Sentient Beings Have Been Mentally Unstable Because They Have Been Slaves Of Delusion, They Lack The Eye Of Wisdom To See The Path Leading To Nirvana And Enlightenment, And They Lack The Necessary Guidance Of A Spiritual Teacher. Moment By Moment They Are Indulging In Negative Actions, Which Will Eventually Bring About Their Downfall.

The More We Care For The Happiness Of Others, The Greater Is Our Own Sense Of Well-being.

If We Make Consistent Effort, Based On Proper Education, We Can Change The World.

We Must Each Lead A Way Of Life With Self-awareness And Compassion, To Do As Much As We Can. Then, Whatever Happens We Will Have No Regrets.

There Is A Common Perception That Compassion Is, If Not Actually An Impediment, At Least Irrelevant To Professional Life. Personally, I Would Argue That Not Only Is It Relevant, But That When Compassion Is Lacking, Our Activities Are In Danger Of Becoming Destructive. An Open Heart Is An Open Mind.

Anger Cannot Be Overcome By Anger. If Someone Is Angry With You, And You Show Anger In Return, The Result Is A Disaster. On The Other Hand, If You Control Your Anger And Show Its Opposite - Love, Compassion, Tolerance And Patience - Not Only Will You Remain Peaceful, But The Other Person's Anger Will Also Diminish.

In Dealing With Those Who Are Undergoing Great Suffering, If You Feel "burnout" Setting In, If You Feel Demoralized And Exhausted, It Is Best, For The Sake Of Everyone, To Withdraw And Restore Yourself. The Point Is To Have A Long-term Perspective.

When We Encounter Suffering, It Is Important To Respond W/ Compassion Rather Than To Question The Politics Of Those We Help.

While People Are Often Content To Criticize And Blame Others For What Goes Wrong, Surely We Should At Least Attempt To Put Forward Constructive Ideas. One Thing Is For Certain: Given Human Beings' Love Of Truth, Justice, Peace, And Freedom, Creating A Better, More Compassionate World Is A Genuine Possibility. The Potential Is There.

The Only Clear Thing Is That We Humans Are The Only Species With The Power To Destroy The Earth As We Know It. The Birds Have No Such Power, Nor Do The Insects, Nor Does Any Mammal. Yet If We Have The Capacity To Destroy The Earth, So, Too, Do We Have The Capacity To Protect It.

The Antidote To Hatred In The Heart, The Source Of Violence, Is Tolerance.

I Think The Problem Is These Basic Sort Of Human Values From Our - From The Beginning, From Birth, Are Not Sort Of Properly Nurtured. If You Don't Love Yourself, You Cannot Love Others. You Will Not Be Able To Love Others. If You Have No Compassion For Yourself Then You Are Not Able Of Developing Compassion For Others.

We Must Generate Courage Equal To The Size Of The Difficulties We Face.

I Think That Ethical Behaviour Is Another Feature Of The Kind Of Inner Discipline That Leads To A Happier Existence.

A Generous Heart And Wholesome Actions Lead To Greater Peace.

There Is A True Feminist Movement In Buddhism That Relates To The Goddess Tārā. Following Her Cultivation Of Bodhicitta, The Bodhisattva's Motivation, She Looked Upon The Situation Of Those Striving Towards Full Awakening And She Felt That There Were Too Few People Who Attained Buddhahood As Women. So She Vowed, 'i Have Developed Bodhicitta As A Woman. For All My Lifetimes Along The Path I Vow To Be Born As A Woman, And In My Final Lifetime When I Attain Buddhahood, Then, Too, I Will Be A Woman.'

Under The Bright Sun, Many Of Us Are Gathered Together With Different Languages, Different Styles Of Dress, Even Different Faiths. However, All Of Us Are The Same In Being Humans, And We All Uniquely Have The Thought Of 'i' And We're All The Same In Wanting Happiness And In Wanting To Avoid Suffering.

From A Certain Point Of View Our Real Enemy, The True Troublemaker, Is Inside.

A Sense Of Contentment Is Crucial To Being Happy. Physical Health, Material Wealth And Friends Contribute To This, But Contentment Governs Our Relations With Them All.

Given The Scale Of Life In The Cosmos, One Human Life Is No More Than A Tiny Blip. Each One Of Us Is A Just Visitor To This Planet, A Guest, Who Will Only Stay For A Limited Time. What Greater Folly Could There Be Than To Spend This Short Time Alone, Unhappy Or In Conflict With Our Companions? Far Better, Surely, To Use Our Short Time Here In Living A Meaningful Life, Enriched By Our Sense Of Connection With Others And Being Of Service To Them.

If Indeed The Qualities Such As Love, Patience, Tolerance, And Forgiveness Are What Happiness Consists In, And If It Is Also True That Compassion, Defined As Concern For Others, Is Both The Source And The Fruit Of These Qualities, Then The More We Are Compassionate, The More We Provide For Our Own Happiness.

Concern For Others

Happiness Arises As A Result Of Different Causes And Conditions. If You Harm Someone Out Of Anger, You May Feel Some Superficial Satisfaction, But Deep Down You Know It Was Wrong. Your Confidence Will Be Undermined. However, If You Have An Altruistic Attitude, You’ll Feel Comfortable And Confident In The Presence Of Others.

Although Violence And The Use Of Force May Appear Powerful And Decisive, Their Benefits Are Short-lived. Violence Can Never Bring A Lasting And Long Term Resolution To Any Problem, Because It Is Unpredictable And For Every Problem It Seems To Solve, Others Are Created. On The Other Hand, Truth Remains Constant And Will Ultimately Prevail.

The More Contact We Have With One Another And The More We Come To Understand Each Other's Values, The Greater Will Be Our Mutual Respect.

Everyone Wants To Be Happy; Happiness Is A Right. And While On A Secondary Level Differences Exist Of Nationality, Faith, Family Background, Social Status And So On, More Important Is That On A Human Level We Are The Same. None Of Us Wants To Face Problems, And Yet We Create Them By Stressing Our Differences. If We See Each Other Just As Fellow Human Beings, There'll Be No Basis For Fighting Or Conflict Between Us.

The Ultimate Authority Must Always Rest With The Individual's Own Reason And Critical Analysis.

The Purpose Of Life Is To Increase The Warm Heart.

In The Present Circumstances, No One Can Afford To Assume That Someone Else Will Solve Their Problems. Every Individual Has A Responsibility To Help Guide Our Global Family In The Right Direction. Good Wishes Are Not Sufficient; We Must Become Actively Engaged.

Ultimately, The Reason Why Love And Compassion Bring The Greatest Happiness Is Simply That Our Nature Cherishes Them Above All Else. The Need For Love Lies At The Very Foundation Of Human Existence.

We Need To Employ A Secular Approach To Ethics, Secular In The Indian Sense Of Respecting All Religious Traditions And Even The Views Of Non-believers In An Unbiased Way. Secular Ethics Rooted In Scientific Findings, Common Experience And Common Sense Can Easily Be Introduced Into The Secular Education System. If We Can Do That There Is A Real Prospect Of Making This 21st Century An Era Of Peace And Compassion.

The Death Penalty Fulfills A Preventive Function, But It Is Also Very Clearly A Form Of Revenge. It Is An Especially Severe Form Of Punishment Because It Is So Final. The Human Life Is Ended And The Executed Person Is Deprived Of The Opportunity To Change, To Restore The Harm Done Or Compensate For It.

Neither A Space Station Nor An Enlightened Mind Can Be Realized In A Day.

We Can Change Society, Change Humanity By Changing Ourselves As Individuals. By Cultivating Inner Values, We Can Change Our Own Lives And Those Of Our Families. This Is How We Can Create A More Peaceful World.

We Are Visitors On This Planet. We Are Here For One Hundred Years At The Very Most. During That Period We Must Try To Do Something Good, Something Useful, With Our Lives. If You Contribute To Other People's Happiness, You Will Find The True Meaning Of Life.

Blessings Don’t Come From Outside, But From Within. Whatever Blessings We Receive Are The Result Of Our Own Efforts And Positive Actions.

Don't Compare Me With Jesus. He Is A Great Master, A Great Master.

Cultivating Inner Discipline Is Something That Takes Time; Expecting Rapid Results Is Simply A Sign Of Impatience.

The Purpose Of All The Major Religious Traditions Is Not To Construct Big Temples On The Outside, But To Create Temples Of Goodness And Compassion Inside, In Our Hearts.

The Laws Of Reasoning Consist Of The Ground, The Path, And The Result. ...suffering Is In The Mind. How We Perceive Happiness Determines Our Suffering Or Not.

Without Mutual Tolerance Emerging As The Foundation, Terrible Situations Like Those Of Tibet And Sri Lanka, Bosnia And Rwanda, Can Never Be Effectively Improved.

There Are Only Two Days In The Year That Nothing Can Be Done. One Is Called Yesterday And The Other Is Called Tomorrow. Today Is The Right Day To Love, Believe, Do And Mostly Live.

Appearance Is Something Absolute, But Reality Is Not That Way - Everything Is Interdependent, Not Absolute.

Buddha Was Speaking About Reality. Reality May Be One, In Its Deepest Essence, But Buddha Also Stated That All Propositions About Reality Are Only Contingent. Reality Is Devoid Of Any Intrinsic Identity That Can Be Captured By Any One Single Proposition - That Is What Buddha Meant By "voidness." Therefore, Buddhism Strongly Discourages Blind Faith And Fanaticism.

In Order To Satisfy One Human Stomach, So Many Lives Are Taken Away. We Must Promote Vegetarianism. It Is Extremely Important.

It Is Necessary To Help Others, Not Only In Our Prayers, But In Our Daily Lives. If We Find We Cannot Help Others, The Least We Can Do Is To Desist From Harming Them.

A Sense Of Concern For Others Gives Our Lives Meaning; It Is The Root Of All Human Happiness

Even Without A Religion, We Can Become A Good Human Being.

We Need To Take Action To Develop Compassion, To Create Inner Peace Within Ourselves And To Share That Inner Peace With Our Family And Friends. Peace And Warm-heartednes S Can Then Spread Through The Community Just As Ripples Radiate Out Across The Water When You Drop A Pebble Into A Pond

Ignorance Is The Source Of Hatred, And The Way To Get Rid Of Ignorance Is Realization.

A Great Rock Is Not Disturbed By The Wind; The Mind Of A Wise Man Is Not Disturbed By Either Honor Or Abuse.

Genuine Happiness Consists In Those Spiritual Qualities Of Love, Compassion, Patience, Tolerance And Forgiveness And So On. For It Is These Which Provide Both For Our Happiness And Others Happiness.
