The Foundation Of The Buddha's Teachings Lies In Compassion, And The Reason For Practicing The Teachings Is To Wipe Out The Persistence Of Ego, The Number-one Enemy Of Compassion.

Love, Compassion And Concern For Others Are Real Sources Of Happiness. If You Have These In Abundance, You Will Not Be Disturbed Even By The Most Uncomfortable Circumstances. If You Nurse Hatred, However, You Will Not Be Happy Even In The Lap Of Luxury. Thus, If We Really Want Happiness, We Must Widen The Sphere Of Love. This Is Both Religious Thinking And Basic Common Sense.

Destructive Thoughts And Emotions Undermine The Very Causes Of Peace And Happiness. If You Think Clearly About It, It Makes No Sense To Think You’re Seeking Happiness, If You Do Nothing To Restrain Angry, Spiteful, And Malicious Thoughts And Emotions.

Suffering Increases Your Inner Strength. Also, The Wishing For Suffering Makes The Suffering Disappear.

To Reduce Destructive Emotions We Need To Strengthen Constructive Emotions. For Example, To Counter Anger We Cultivate Love And Compassion.

Every Human Should Have The Idea Of Taking Care Of The Environment, Of Nature, Of Water. So Using Too Much Or Wasting Water Should Have Some Kind Of Feeling Or Sense Of Concern. Some Sort Of Responsibility And With That, A Sense Of Discipline.

As A Human Being, Anger Is A Part Of Our Mind. Irritation Also Part Of Our Mind. But You Can Do - Anger Come, Go. Never Keep In Your Sort Of - Your Inner World, Then Create A Lot Of Suspicion, A Lot Of Distrust, A Lot Of Negative Things, More Worry.

The Time Has Come To Educate People, To Cease All Quarrels In The Name Of Religion, Culture, Countries, Different Political Or Economic Systems. Fighting Is Useless. Suicide.

Western Nations Get Rich By Using Resources Such As Arab Oil. Meanwhile, The Countries Supplying Them Raw Materials Remain Poor. Due To Such Injustices, Jealousies Are Created.

On Occasions When U Feel Most Hopeless, U Must Take Powerful Effort. We Must Persist In Face Of Failure.

The Question Of Real, Lasting World Peace Concerns Human Beings, So Basic Human Feelings Are Also At Its Roots. Through Inner Peace, Genuine World Peace Can Be Achieved. In This The Importance Of Individual Responsibility Is Quite Clear; An Atmosphere Of Peace Must First Be Created Within Ourselves, Then Gradually Expanded To Include Our Families, Our Communities, And Ultimately The Whole Planet.

As Far As Your Personal Requirements Are Concerned, The Ideal Is To Have Fewer Involvements, Fewer Obligations, And Fewer Affairs, Business Or Whatever. However, So Far As The Interest Of The Larger Community Is Concerned, You Must Have As Many Involvements As Possible And As Many Activities As Possible.

The Essence Of All Religions Is Love, Compassion And Tolerance. Kindness Is My True Religion. No Matter Whether You Are Learned Or Not, Whether You Believe In The Next Life Or Not, Whether You Believe In God Or Buddha Or Some Other Religion Or Not, In Day-to-day Life You Must Be A Kind Person.

Reincarnation Is Not An Exclusively Hindu Or Buddhist Concept, But It Is Part Of The History Of Human Origin. It Is Proof Of The Mindstream's Capacity To Retain Knowledge Of Physical And Mental Activities. It Is Related To The Theory Of Interdependent Origination And To The Law Of Cause And Effect.

Man Sacrifices His Health In Order To Make Money. Then He Sacrifices Money To Recuperate His Health.

I Have Found That The Greatest Degree Of Inner Peace Comes From Cultivating Love And Compassion.

If We Can Refrain From Harming Others In Our Actions & Words, We Can Start To Give Serious Attention To Actively Doing Good.

If There Are Sound Reasons Or Bases For The Points You Demand, Then There Is No Need For Violence. Right From The Moment Of Our Birth, We Are Under The Care And Kindness Of Our Parents, And Then Later On In Our Life When We Are Oppressed By Sickness And Become Old, We Are Again Dependent On The Kindness Of Others. Since At The Beginning And End Of Our Lives We Are So Dependent On Other's Kindness, How Can It Be In The Middle That We Would Neglect Kindness Towards Others?

Compassion Is Something Really Worthwhile. It Is Not Just A Religious Or Spiritual Subject, Not A Matter Of Ideology. It Is Not A Luxury, It Is A Necessity.

We Need To Understand How Destructive Emotions Affect Us And Constructive Emotions Can Help Us, So That We Can Maintain Our Peace Of Mind.

The Female Biologically [has] More Potential To Show Affection And Compassion.

It Is Very Wrong For People To Feel Deeply Sad When They Lose Some Money, Yet When They Waste The Precious Moments Of Their Lives They Do Not Have The Slightest Feeling Of Repentance.

Anything That Contradicts Experience And Logic Should Be Abandoned.

On Every Level Of Human Life, Compassion Is The Key Thing.

With Genuine Love And Compassion, Another Person's Appearance Or Behavior Has No Affect On Your Attitude.

If You Practice In Accord With Your Individual Capacity, Little By Little You Will Find More Pleasure And Joy In It. As You Gain Inner Strength, Your Positive Actions Will Gain In Profundity And Scope.

Compassion Automatically Brings Happiness And Calmness. Then, Even If You Receive Disturbing News, It Will Be Easier To Take, As Your Mind Is Still.

Up To Now My Involvement In The Tibetan Freedom Struggle Has Been Part Of My Spiritual Practice, Because The Issues Of The Survival Of The Buddha Teaching And The Freedom Of Tibet Are Very Much Related. In This Particular Struggle, There Is No Problem With Many Monks And Nuns, Including Myself, Joining.

The Basic Condition Of Human Life Is Happiness.

When You Encounter Some Problems, If You Point Your Finger At Yourself And Not At Others, This Gives You Control Over Yourself And Calmness In A Situation, Where Otherwise Self-control Becomes Problematic.

To Be Aware Of A Single Shortcoming Within Oneself Is More Useful Than To Be Aware Of A Thousand In Somebody Else. Rather Than Speaking Badly About People And In Ways That Will Produce Friction And Unrest In Their Lives, We Should Practice A Purer Perception Of Them, And When We Speak Of Others, Speak Of Their Good Qualities.

China Has To Go Along With World Trends. That's Democracy, Liberty, Individual Freedom. China Sooner Or Later Has To Go That Way. It Cannot Go Backward.

If We Have A Positive Mental Attitude, Then Even When Surrounded By Hostility, We Shall Not Lack Inner Peace.

Mental Happiness Is More Important Than Physical Comfort. Physical Comfort Comes From The Material. But Material Facilities Cannot Provide You With Peace Of Mind.

Study And Practice Are Both Very Important, But They Must Go Hand In Hand. Faith Without Knowledge Is Not Sufficient. Faith Needs To Be Supported By Reason. However Intellectual Understanding That Is Not Applied In Practice Is Also Of Little Use. Whatever We Learn From Study We Need To Apply Sincerely In Our Daily Lives.

Logically, Harmony Must Come From The Heart... Harmony Very Much Based On Trust. As Soon As Use Force, Creates Fear. Fear And Trust Cannot Go Together.

The Problem Isn't Materialism As Such. Rather It Is The Underlying Assumption That Full Satisfaction Can Arise From Gratifying The Senses Alone. Unlike Animals Whose Quest For Happiness Is Restricted To Survival And To The Immediate Gratification Of Sensory Desires, We Human Beings Have The Capacity To Experience Happiness At A Deeper Level Which, When Achieved, Can Overwhelm Unhappy Experiences.

We Can Reject Everything Else: Religion, Ideology, All Received Wisdom. But We Cannot Escape The Necessity Of Love And Compassion. This, Then, Is My True Religion, My Simple Faith. In This Sense, There Is No Need For Temple Or Church, For Mosque Or Synagogue, No Need For Complicated Philosophy, Doctrine, Or Dogma. Our Own Heart, Our Own Mind, Is The Temple. The Doctrine Is Compassion. Love For Others And Respect For Their Rights And Dignity, No Matter Who Or What They Are: Ultimately These Are All We Need.

As Human Beings We Have The Same Experience Of Destructive And Constructive Emotions. We Also Have A Human Mind Capable Of Developing Wisdom. We All Have The Same Buddha Nature.

The Need For Love Lies At The Very Foundation Of Human Existence.

The Ultimate Source Of A Happy Life Is Warm-heartedness. This Means Extending To Others The Kind Of Concern We Have For Ourselves. Likewise, The Places That We Will Experience In Future Rebirths Will Be The Outcome Of The Karma That We Share With The Other Beings Living There. Sometimes We Feel That One Individual's Action Is Very Insignificant. Then We Think, Of Course, That Effects Should Come From Channeling Or From A Unifying Movement. But The Movement Of The Society, Community Or Group Of People Means Joining Individuals. Society Means A Collection Of Individuals, So That Initiative Must Come From Individuals. Unless Each Individual Develops A Sense Of Responsibility, The Whole Community Cannot Move. So Therefore, It Is Very Essential That We Should Not Feel That Individual Effort Is Meaningless- You Should Not Feel That Way. We Should Make An Effort.
