The Three Types Of Misery Are The Misery Of Suffering, The Misery Of Change, And Pervasive Misery.

If We Try To Secure The Well-being Of Others, We Will, At The Same Time, Create The Conditions For Our Own.

Consciousness Will Always Be Present, Though A Particular Consciousness May Cease. For Example, The Particular Tactile Consciousness That Is Present Within This Human Body Will Cease When The Body Comes To An End. Likewise, Consciousnesses That Are Influenced By Ignorance, By Anger Or By Attachment, These Too Will Cease. But The Basic, Ultimate, Innermost Subtle Consciousness Will Always Remain. It Has No Beginning, And It Will Have Not End.

True Friends Share Genuine Closeness And Remain Friends Irrespective Of Fluctuating Fortunes.

A Genuine, Affectionate Smile Is Very Important In Our Day-to-day Lives.

We All Have The Potential To Show Others Love And Affection, But As We Progress In Our Materialistic World, These Values Tend To Remain Dormant. We Can Develop Them On The Basis Of Common Sense, Common Experience And Scientific Findings. The Response To The Recent Tragedy In The Philippines Is An Example Of How Such Values Are Awakened; People Helped Simply Because Others Are Suffering And In Need Of Support.

Our Attitude Towards Suffering Becomes Very Important Because It Can Affect How We Cope With Suffering When It Arises.

So The First Step In Seeking Happiness Is Learning. We First Have To Learn How Negative Emotions And Behaviors Are Harmful To Us And How Positive Emotions Are Helpful.

Taking Care Of Our Planet Is Like Taking Care Of Our Houses. Since We Human Beings Come From Nature, There Is No Point In Our Going Against Nature, Which Is Why I Say The Environment Is Not A Matter Of Religion Or Ethics Or Morality. These Are Luxuries, Since We Can Survive Without Them. But We Will Not Survive If We Continue To Go Against Nature.

Cultivating A Close, Warmhearted Feeling For Others Automatically Puts The Mind At Ease. It Helps Remove Whatever Fears Or Insecurities We May Have And Gives Us The Strength To Cope With Any Obstacles We Encounter.

For Those Who May Not Find Happiness To Exercise Religious Faith, It's Okay To Remain A Radical Atheist; It's Absolutely An Individual Right, But The Important Thing Is With A Compassionate Heart - Then No Problem.

Unless The Direction Of Science Is Guided By A Consciously Ethical Motivation, Especially Compassion, Its Effects May Fail To Bring Benefit. They May Indeed Cause Great Harm.

Our Enemies Provide Us With A Precious Opportunity To Practice Patience And Love. We Should Have Gratitude Toward Them.

Scientists May Study Mainly Matter But They Cannot Ignore The Human Mind, Or Consciousness: Spiritual Practitioners May Be Engaging Mainly In Developing The Mind But They Cannot Completely Ignore Their Physical Needs. It Seems That For Some People The Idea Of Compassion Entails A Complete Disregard For Or Even A Sacrifice Of Their Own Interests. This Is Not The Case. In Fact, You First Of All Have To Have A Wish To Be Happy Yourself - If You Don't Love Yourself Like That, How Can You Love Others?

Those Who Have Little Interest In Spirituality Shouldn’t Think That Human Inner Values Don’t Apply To You. The Inner Peace Of An Alert And Calm Mind Are The Source Of Real Happiness And Good Health. Our Human Intelligence Tells Us Which Of Our Emotions Are Positive And Helpful And Which Are Damaging And To Be Restrained Or Avoided.

As You Breathe In, Cherish Yourself. As You Breathe Out, Cherish All Beings.

We Must Conduct Research And Then Accept The Results. If They Don't Stand Up To Experimentation, Buddha`s Own Words Must Be Rejected.

There Are Two Kinds Of Happiness - The Temporary Pleasure Derived Primarily From Material Comfort Alone And Another More Enduring Comfort That Results From The Thorough Transformation And Development Of The Mind. We Can See In Our Own Lives That The Latter Form Of Happiness Is Superior Because When Our Mental State Is Calm And Happy, We Can Easily Put Up With Minor Pains And Physical Discomforts. On The Other Hand, When Our Mind Is Restless And Upset, The Most Comfortable Physical Facilities Do Not Make Us Happy.

Certain Beliefs Must Accompany Every Action: One Should Act Without Selfishness, Cultivate Compassion For All Living Things, And Develop Respect For Others.

It's Unrealistic To Think That The Future Of Humanity Can Be Achieved Only On The Basis Of Prayer; What We Need Is To Take Action.

Most Of Our Problems Are Related To The Mind, So We Have To Work To Reduce Our Destructive Emotions.

If We Make Consistent Effort, Based On Proper Education, We Can Change The World.

By Being Inattentive To The Needs Of Others, Inevitably We End Up Harming Them.

Today Is The Right Day To Love, Believe, Do, And Mostly, Live.

Within The Framework Of The Buddhist Path, Reflecting On Suffering Has Tremendous Importance Because -realizing The Nature Of Suffering, You Will Develop Greater Resolve To Put An End To The Causes Of Suffering And The Unwholesome Deeds Which Lead To Suffering. And It Will Increase Your Enthusiasm For Engaging In The Wholesome Actions And Deeds Which Lead To Happiness And Joy.

To Foster Inner Awareness, Introspection, And Reasoning Is More Efficient Than Meditation And Prayer.

If We Can Refrain From Harming Others In Our Actions & Words, We Can Start To Give Serious Attention To Actively Doing Good.

If Indeed The Qualities Such As Love, Patience, Tolerance, And Forgiveness Are What Happiness Consists In, And If It Is Also True That Compassion, Defined As Concern For Others, Is Both The Source And The Fruit Of These Qualities, Then The More We Are Compassionate, The More We Provide For Our Own Happiness.

If One Assumes A Humble Attitude, One's Own Good Qualities Will Increase. Whereas If One Is Proud, One Will Become Jealous Of Others, One Will Look Down On Others, And Due To That There Will Be Unhappiness In Society.

Generally Speaking, If A Human Being Never Shows Anger, Then I Think Something's Wrong. He's Not Right In The Brain.

It Is Time To Fill The World With Strong And Powerful Deeds. It Is Common Knowledge That No Great Captain In The World Has Ever Destroyed All Of His Enemies And Lived With A Sense Of Satisfaction. If One Enemy Is Killed, Two More Will Appear. It Is Important We Cultivate Love And Compassion To All The Sentient Beings Which Is The Way To Bring Peace To All.

Developing Concern For Others, Thinking Of Them As Part Of Us, Brings Self-confidence , Reduces Our Sense Of Suspicion And Mistrust, And Enables Us To Develop A Calm Mind.

The Death Penalty Fulfills A Preventive Function, But It Is Also Very Clearly A Form Of Revenge. It Is An Especially Severe Form Of Punishment Because It Is So Final. To Be In Flow Means To Be Totally Absorbed In Whatever One Is Doing At The Moment. It Occurs When One Is Fully Present And Completely Focused On The Task At Hand...flow Can Occur During Any Human Activity, Whether Work Or At Play.

Awareness Of Death Is The Very Bedrock Of The Entire Path. Until You Have Developed This Awareness, All Other Practices Are Obstructed.

I Remind Myself That Scientists Now Say That Anger Is Bad For Our Health; It Eats Into Our Immune System. So, Anger Destroys Our Peace Of Mind And Our Physical Health. We Shouldn’t Welcome It Or Think Of It As Natural Or As A Friend.

It Is Important To Direct Our Intelligence With Good Intentions. Without Intelligence, We Cannot Accomplish Very Much. Without Good Intentions, The Way We Exercise Of Our Intelligence May Have Destructive Results.

Our State Of Mind Plays A Major Role In Our Day-to-day Experiences As Well As Our Physical And Mental Well-being. If A Person Has A Calm And Stable Mind, This Influences His Or Her Attitude And Behavior In Relation To Others. In Other Words, If Someone Remains In A Peaceful And Tranquil State Of Mind, External Surroundings Can Cause Them Only A Limited Disturbance.

We Are Beset By Problems And If We Look For Their Source, We Find They Arise Because Of Our Selfishness, Because We Tend To Pursue Our Own Interests At The Expense Of Others. Our Various Religious Traditions Exist To Help Us Reduce These Problems. They All Teach Ways To Overcome Suffering Through Cultivating Love And Compassion, Tolerance, Patience And Contentment.

When A Person Is In A Miserable Situation, Then, Yes, It Is Difficult To Develop Genuine Compassion Toward Others. That's Why I Find It Difficult To Say To Poor People, "please Have Compassion Toward Millionaires." That's Not Easy.

My Brain And My Heart Are My Temples. My True Religion Is Kindness.

According To Buddhist Psychology Most Of Our Troubles Stem From Attachment To Things That We Mistakenly See As Permanent.

Indulgence In Resentment And Vengeance Will Only Further Increase Miseries To Oneself And Others In This Life And In Lives To Come.

Compassion Is Not Helpless Pity, But An Awareness And Determination That Demands Action.
