Non-violence Means Dialogue, Using Our Language, The Human Language. Dialogue Means Compromise; Respecting Each Other’s Rights; In The Spirit Of Reconciliation There Is A Real Solution To Conflict And Disagreement. There Is No Hundred Percent Winner, No Hundred Percent Loser—not That Way But Half-and-half. That Is The Practical Way, The Only Way.

The Rationale For Loving Others Is The Recognition Of The Simple Fact That Every Living Being Has The Same Right To And The Same Desire For Happiness, And Not Suffering, And The Consideration That You As One Individual Are One Life Unit As Compared With The Mulititude Of Others In Their Ceaseless Quest For Happiness.

Compassion And Love Constitute Non-violence In Action. They Are The Source Of All Spiritual Qualities: Forgiveness, Tolerance, All The Virtues. They Give Meaning To Our Activities And Makes Them Constructive. There Is Nothing Amazing About Being Rich Or Highly Educated; Only When The Individual Has A Warm Heart Do These Attributes Become Worthwhile.

The Purpose Of All The Major Religious Traditions Is Not To Construct Big Temples On The Outside, But To Create Temples Of Goodness And Compassion Inside, In Our Hearts.

The Death Penalty Fulfills A Preventive Function, But It Is Also Very Clearly A Form Of Revenge. It Is An Especially Severe Form Of Punishment Because It Is So Final. Just As We Take For Granted The Need To Acquire Proficiency In The Basic Academic Subjects, I Am Hopeful That A Time Will Come When We Can Take It For Granted That Children Will Learn, As Part Of The Curriculum, The Indispensability Of Inner Values: Love, Compassion, Justice, And Forgiveness.

Yet Even The Rich Have Their Own Kind Of Suffering, Anxiety, Doubt, And Fear. So In Many Cases, Wealthy People Aren't Happy! And Once Those With Material Wealth Encounter Small Difficulties, Their Amount Of Mental Suffering Is Sometimes Bigger Than It Is For Those Who Have Faced Such Difficulties Every Day.

My Religion Is Very Simple. My Religion Is Kindness.

Tolerance And Patience Should Not Be Read As Signs Of Weakness. They Are Signs Of Strength.

Attachment Constrains Our Vision So That We Are Not Able To See Things From A Wider Perspective.

Too Strong A Media Emphasis On Death And Violence Can Lead To Despair.

We Can Reject Everything Else: Religion, Ideology, All Received Wisdom. But We Cannot Escape The Necessity Of Love And Compassion. This, Then, Is My True Religion, My Simple Faith. In This Sense, There Is No Need For Temple Or Church, For Mosque Or Synagogue, No Need For Complicated Philosophy, Doctrine, Or Dogma. Our Own Heart, Our Own Mind, Is The Temple. The Doctrine Is Compassion. Love For Others And Respect For Their Rights And Dignity, No Matter Who Or What They Are: Ultimately These Are All We Need.

The Best Way To Resolve Any Problem In The Human World Is For All Sides To Sit Down And Talk.

Even If Only A Few Individuals Try To Create Mental Peace And Happiness Within Themselves, And Act Responsibly And Kind-heartedly Towards Others, They Will Have A Positive Influence In Their Community.

I Believe That We Are Fundamentally The Same And Have The Same Basic Potential.

We Have To Think And See How We Can Fundamentally Change Our Education System So That We Can Train People To Develop Warm-heartedness Early On In Order To Create A Healthier Society. I Don't Mean We Need To Change The Whole System, Just Improve It. We Need To Encourage An Understanding That Inner Peace Comes From Relying On Human Values Like, Love, Compassion, Tolerance And Honesty, And That Peace In The World Relies On Individuals Finding Inner Peace.

I Believe All Religions Pursue The Same Goals, That Of Cultivating Human Goodness And Bringing Happiness To All Human Beings. Though The Means Might Appear Different The Ends Are The Same.

I Think Really, China, Chinese, I Think They Really Have A Long History Of Civilization, Rich Culture.

Unlike An External Enemy, The Inner Enemy Cannot Regroup And Launch A Comeback Once It Has Been Destroyed From Within.

There Must Be A Way Of Promoting Human Values Without Involving Religion, Based On Common Sense, Experience And Recent Scientific Findings.

Everyone Wants To Be Happy; Happiness Is A Right. And While On A Secondary Level Differences Exist Of Nationality, Faith, Family Background, Social Status And So On, More Important Is That On A Human Level We Are The Same. None Of Us Wants To Face Problems, And Yet We Create Them By Stressing Our Differences. If We See Each Other Just As Fellow Human Beings, There'll Be No Basis For Fighting Or Conflict Between Us.

Perhaps Our Teachings Seem Less Religious And More Technical, Like Psychology, So They Are Easier For Secular People To Use.

Because Of Lack Of Moral Principle, Human Life Becomes Worthless. Moral Principle, Truthfulness, Is A Key Factor. If We Lose That, Then There Is No Future.

Today Different Ethnic Groups And Different Nations Come Together Due To Common Sense.

It Is Difficult To Violently Suppress People In The Long Run, As The Example Of The Soviet Union And The Eastern European Countries Has Shown.

Sensory Experience Does Not Offset The Intense Pain Or Pleasure We Feel On A Mental Level; It May Distract Us, But Doesn't Overcome It. On The Other Hand, If We Have Peace Of Mind, Even Negative Experiences Do Not Upset Us. Peace Of Mind Is Also Good For Our Physical Health. Medical Experts Have Found That Anger, Hatred And Fear Eat Into Our Immune System. Being Calm And Relaxed Is Better For Our Physical Well-being.

We May Now Have Reached A Point Where This Gap In Our Make-up Has Become Unsustainable; Partly Because What In The Past Would Have Counted As Material Plenty Has Become The Norm For The Majority In Much Of The World; And Partly Because The Slow Retreat Of Religion That Coincided With The Spread Of A Capitalist Economy Has Left A Gaping Hole In Millions Of People's Lives. Real Affection Comes From The Face. Those Political Leaders, When They Meet, They Are Always Hugging, But Not Very Genuine. Deep, Sincerity Comes From Face And Eye.

Peace In The World Relies On Individuals Finding Inner Peace.

If An Individual Has A Calm State Of Mind, That Person's Attitudes And Views Will Be Calm And Tranquil Even In The Presence Of Great Agitation.

There Are Techniques Of Buddhism, Such As Meditation, That Anyone Can Adopt.

On Every Level Of Human Life, Compassion Is The Key Thing.

Everyone Wants A Happy Life Without Difficulties Or Suffering. We Create Many Of The Problems We Face. No One Intentionally Creates Problems, But We Tend To Be Slaves To Powerful Emotions Like Anger, Hatred And Attachment That Are Based On Misconceived Projections About People And Things. We Need To Find Ways Of Reducing These Emotions By Eliminating The Ignorance That Underlies Them And Applying Opposing Forces.

I Think Governments Can't Do Much.

The Essence Of Any Religion Is Good Heart. Sometimes I Call Love And Compassion A Universal Religion. This Is My Religion.

I Can Do What My Energy, My Time, To My Other Sort Of Commitment. And Then Also Emotional, Religious Harmony. So In These Two Field, Now That More Or Less I Think The Spirituality Or Human Values In These Fields, I May Consider My Only Professional Field. Those Who Have Little Interest In Spirituality Shouldn’t Think That Human Inner Values Don’t Apply To You. The Inner Peace Of An Alert And Calm Mind Are The Source Of Real Happiness And Good Health. Our Human Intelligence Tells Us Which Of Our Emotions Are Positive And Helpful And Which Are Damaging And To Be Restrained Or Avoided.

Our Planet Is Blessed With Vast Natural Treasures. If We Use Them Wisely, Beginning With The Elimination Of Militarism And War, Every Human Being Will Be Able To Live A Healthy, Prosperous Existence.

Laughing In Full Abandonment Is Very Good For Your Health.

We All Wish To Live A Happy Life. In Addition, We All Have The Same Right To Fulfil This Goal. And We All Have The Potential To Do So For The Simple Reason That Future Is Not Fixed, It Can Be Changed. Therefore, We Should Live In Hope That We Really Can Overcome Whatever Problems We Face.

A Calm Mind Helps Our Human Intelligence To Assess The Situation Realistically.

Whether Or Not We Follow Any Particular Spiritual Tradition, The Benefits Of Love And Kindness Are Obvious To Anyone.

For A Practitioner Of Love And Compassion, An Enemy Is One Of The Most Important Teachers. Without An Enemy You Cannot Practice Tolerance, And Without Tolerance You Cannot Build A Sound Basis Of Compassion.

As A Buddhist, I View Death As A Normal Process, A Reality That I Accept Will Occur As Long As I Remain In This Earthly Existence. Knowing That I Cannot Escape It, I See No Point In Worrying About It. I Tend To Think Of Death As Being Like Changing Your Clothes When They Are Old And Worn Out, Rather Than As Some Final End. Yet Death Is Unpredictable: We Do Not Know When Or How It Will Take Place. So It Is Only Sensible To Take Certain Precautions Before It Actually Happens.

Many People Think That Patience Is A Sign Of Weakness. I Think This Is A Mistake. It Is Anger That Is A Sign Of Weakness, Whereas Patience Is A Sign Of Strength

Happiness Does Not Come About Only Due To External Circumstances; It Mainly Derives From Inner Attitudes.

The Proper Way To Create Friends Is To Have A Warm Heart, Not Simply Money Or Power. The Friend Of Power And The Friend Of Money Are Something Different.

Follow The Three R's: - Respect For Self. - Respect For Others. - Responsibility For All Your Actions.

Scientists May Study Mainly Matter But They Cannot Ignore The Human Mind, Or Consciousness: Spiritual Practitioners May Be Engaging Mainly In Developing The Mind But They Cannot Completely Ignore Their Physical Needs. It Is For This Reason That I Have Always Stressed The Importance Of Combining Both Mental And The Material Approach To Achieving Happiness For Humankind.

Every Religion Emphasizes Human Improvement, Love, Respect For Others, Sharing Other People's Suffering. On These Lines Every Religion Had More Or Less The Same Viewpoint And The Same Goal.

In Fact, Being Wealthy Often Brings Even More Anxiety.

While People Are Often Content To Criticize And Blame Others For What Goes Wrong, Surely We Should At Least Attempt To Put Forward Constructive Ideas. Delusions Are States Of Mind Which, When They Arise Within Our Mental Continuum, Leave Us Disturbed, Confused And Unhappy. Therefore, Those States Of Mind Which Delude Or Afflict Us Are Called 'delusions.'

Anger May Bring Extra Energy, But It Eclipses The Best Part Of Our Brain: Its Rationality. The Energy Of Anger Is Almost Always Unreliable.
