The Reality Today Is That We Are All Interdependent And Have To Co-exist On This Small Planet. Therefore, The Only Sensible And Intelligent Way Of Resolving Differences And Clashes Of Interests, Whether Between Individuals Or Nations, Is Through Dialogue.

In Some Places, There's The Concept Of One Religion, One Truth. In The Muslim World, There's The Notion Of Allah. The Western, Multireligious Modern Society Is Some Kind Of A Challenge To This. These, I Feel, Are The Main Causes [for Terrorism], And, When Combined With Lots Of Anger And Frustration, Cause A Huge Amount Of Hate.

If We See Pride Among People Who Have No Idea About Dharma, It Is Understandable. However, If Afflictive Emotions And Haughtiness Are Present Among Dharma Practitioners, It Is Great Disgrace To Practice

If Someone Does Not Smile At You, Be Generous And Offer Your Own Smile. Nobody Needs A Smile More Than The One That Cannot Smile To Others.

If You Can Cultivate Wholesome Mental States Prior To Sleep And Allow Them To Continue Right Into Sleep Without Getting Distracted, Then Sleep Itself Becomes Wholesome.

Developing Concern For Others, Thinking Of Them As Part Of Us, Brings Self-confidence , Reduces Our Sense Of Suspicion And Mistrust, And Enables Us To Develop A Calm Mind.

On The Other Hand, Hatred, Jealousy And Fear Upset Our Peace Of Mind, Make Us Agitated And Affect Our Body Adversely. Even Our Body Needs Peace Of Mind And Is Not Suited To Agitation. This Shows That An Appreciation For Peace Of Mind Is In Our Blood.

Our Purpose In Life Is To Be Happy. From The Very Core Of Our Being, We Simply Desire Contentment.

An Ethical Act Is One Which Does Not Harm Others' Experience Or Expectation Of Happiness.

We Need To Embrace 'inner Disarmament,' Reducing Our Own Emotions Of Suspicion, Hatred And Hostility Toward Our Brothers And Sisters

The Practice Of Patience Guards Us Against Losing Our Presence Of Mind. It Enables Us To Remain Undisturbed, Even When The Situation Is Really Difficult. It Gives Us A Certain Amount Of Inner Peace, Which Allows Us Some Self-control, So That We Can Choose To Respond To Situations In An Appropriate And Compassionate Manner, Rather Than Being Driven By Our Disturbing Emotions.

There Is Often A Big Disparity Between The Way In Which We Perceive Things And The Way Things Really Are.

Anger And Hatred Are The Real Enemies That We Must Confront And Defeat, Not The 'enemies' Who Appear From Time To Time In Our Lives.

I Hope That At This Moment You Are Thinking Of Yourself As A Human Being Rather Than As An American, Asian, European, African, Or Member Of Any Particular Country. These Loyalties Are Secondary.

I Feel That Compassionate Thought Is The Most Precious Thing There Is. It Is Something That Only We Human Beings Can Develop. If A Problem Is Fixable, If A Situation Is Such That You Can Do Something About It, Then There Is No Need To Worry. If It's Not Fixable, Then There Is No Help In Worrying. There Is No Benefit In Worrying Whatsoever.

By Far The Single Greatest Danger Facing Humankind - In Fact, All Living Beings On Our Planet - Is The Threat Of Nuclear Destruction.

Death Is A Part Of All Our Lives. Whether We Like It Or Not, It Is Bound To Happen. Instead Of Avoiding Thinking About It, It Is Better To Understand Its Meaning. On The Other Hand, If We Have Peace Of Mind, Even Negative Experiences Do Not Upset Us. Peace Of Mind Is Also Good For Our Physical Health. Medical Experts Have Found That Anger, Hatred And Fear Eat Into Our Immune System. Being Calm And Relaxed Is Better For Our Physical Well-being.
