As Long As I Am Alive, I Am Fully Committed To Amity Between Tibetans And Chinese. Otherwise There's No Use.

We Have To Think And See How We Can Fundamentally Change Our Education System So That We Can Train People To Develop Warm-heartedness Early On In Order To Create A Healthier Society. I Don't Mean We Need To Change The Whole System, Just Improve It. We Need To Encourage An Understanding That Inner Peace Comes From Relying On Human Values Like, Love, Compassion, Tolerance And Honesty, And That Peace In The World Relies On Individuals Finding Inner Peace.

According To Buddhism, Individuals Are Masters Of Their Own Destiny. And All Living Beings Are Believed To Possess The Nature Of The Primordial Buddha Samantabhadra, The Potential Or Seed Of Enlightenment, Within Them. So Our Future Is In Our Own Hands. What Greater Free Will Do We Need?

The Creatures That Inhabit This Earth-be They Human Beings Or Animals-are Here To Contribute, Each In Its Own Particular Way, To The Beauty And Prosperity Of The World.

On A Certain Day, Month And Year One Should Observe The Ceremony Of Tree-planting. Thus, One Fulfils One's Responsibilities, Serves One's Fellow-beings Which Not Only Brings Happiness But Benefits All.

If You The Owner Of The Dog, Really Showing Not Just Food But Real Affection, Then Dog Very Much Appreciate. Isn't It?

The Very Purpose Of Religion Is To Control Yourself, Not To Criticize Others. Rather, We Must Criticize Ourselves. How Much Am I Doing About My Anger? About My Attachment, About My Hatred, About My Pride, My Jealousy? These Are The Things Which We Must Check In Daily Life.

Too Much Self-centered Attitude, You See, Brings, You See, Isolation. Result: Loneliness, Fear, Anger. The Extreme Self-centered Attitude Is The Source Of Suffering.

If We Continue To Approach Problems From The Perspective Of Temporary Expediency, Future Generations Will Face Tremendous Difficulties.

The Reality Today Is That We Are All Interdependent And Have To Co-exist On This Small Planet. Therefore, The Only Sensible And Intelligent Way Of Resolving Differences And Clashes Of Interests, Whether Between Individuals Or Nations, Is Through Dialogue.

The More You Are Motivated By Love, The More Fearless & Free Your Action Will Be.

If We Are Demoralized, Sad And Only Complain, We’ll Not Solve Our Problems. If We Only Pray For A Solution, We’ll Not Solve Our Problems. We Need To Face Them, To Deal With Them Without Violence, But With Confidence - And Never Give Up. If You Adopt A Non-violent Approach, But Are Also Hesitant Within, You’ll Not Succeed. You Have To Have Confidence And Keep Up Your Efforts - In Other Words, Never Give Up.

Religion, Any Religion, No Matter What Sort Of Wonderful Religion, Never Be Universal. So Now Education Is Universal, So We Have To Sort Of Find Ways And Means Through Education System, From Kindergarten Up To University Level, To Make Awareness These Good Things, The Values, Inner Values.

When Young We Have A Vivid Sense Of Basic Values Like Trust And Warm-heartedness, Which We Tend To Neglect In Today's Competitive World As We Grow Up, Yet From Birth We All Have A Need For Affection. The Emotions We Experience Today Have Not Changed Much Over The Last Few Thousand Years, But The Interest Increasing Numbers Of People Are Showing In Their Inner World And How Their Emotions Work Is A Sign Of Maturity.

The Basis Of Human Rights Is Happy Life. Everyone Wants To Lead A Happy Life For Which We Need To Have A Holistic Approach.

I Find Hope In The Darkest Of Days, And Focus In The Brightest. I Do Not Judge The Universe.

Scientists Are Coming To Recognise The Effects Of The Mind On Physical Health. The Sense Of Relaxation Associated With Inner Peace Involves Not Only Being Physically At Ease. If You Are Nagged By Worry Or Seething With Anger, You’re Not Really Relaxed. The Key To Relaxation Is Peace Of Mind. The Relaxation Gained From Alcohol, Drugs Or Just Listening To Music May Seem Attractive, But It Doesn’t Last.

I Do Not See Any Reason Why Animals Should Be Slaughtered To Serve As Human Diet When There Are So Many Substitutes. After All, Man Can Live Without Meat. It Is Only Some Carnivorous Animals That Have To Subsist On Flesh. Killing Animals For Sport, For Pleasure, For Adventures, And For Hides And Furs Is A Phenomenon Which Is At Once Disgusting And Distressing. We Must Recognize The Frequent Contradictions Between Short-term Benefit And Long-term Harm.

In Disagreements With Loved Ones, Deal Only With The Current Situation. Don't Bring Up The Past.

After I Handed Over All My Authority, I Feel Now Our Struggle [for Tibet ] Become Much, Much Safer. And Me Personally, The Day I Officially Handed Over, That Night, Very Unusual Sound. I Am Quite Free Now.

As Human Beings, We Are Only Able To Survive In Dependence Upon The Co-operation, Help And Kindness Of Other Fellow Humans.

People Often Expect The Other Person To Respond First In A Positive Way, Instead Of Taking The Initiative To Create That Possibility. I Feel That's Wrong; It Can Act As A Barrier That Just Promotes A Feeling Of Isolation From Others. The World Has Also Learned That Economic Growth, By Itself, Cannot Close The Gap Between Rich And Poor.

What Unites All Beings Is Their Desire For Happiness.

I Always Have The Feeling That I'm Just Another Human Being.

All Living Beings Have Experience Of Pleasure And Pain, And We Are Among Them. What Makes Human Beings Different Is That We Have A Powerful Intelligence And A Much Greater Ability To Achieve Happiness And Avoid Suffering. And Once Those With Material Wealth Encounter Small Difficulties, Their Amount Of Mental Suffering Is Sometimes Bigger Than It Is For Those Who Have Faced Such Difficulties Every Day.

I Believe That The Destructive Nature Of Society That Now Threatens The Existence Of The Entire Human World Has Much To Do With Human Intelligence. The Way To Overcome All Human Suffering-that Also Is Through Human Intelligence.

Attention-yes! That's Present! And Present, You See, Makes Past And Future.

We Must Generate Courage Equal To The Size Of The Difficulties We Face.

We Need A Little More Compassion, And If We Cannot Have It, Then No Politician Or Even A Magician Can Save The Planet.

The Future Will Be In The Hands Of Those Of You Who Belong To The 21st Century. You Have The Opportunity And Responsibility To Build A Better Humanity. This Means Developing Warm-heartednes S In This Very Life, Here And Now. Compassion And Love Constitute Non-violence In Action. They Are The Source Of All Spiritual Qualities: Forgiveness, Tolerance, All The Virtues. They Give Meaning To Our Activities And Makes Them Constructive. There Is Nothing Amazing About Being Rich Or Highly Educated; Only When The Individual Has A Warm Heart Do These Attributes Become Worthwhile.

Know The Rules Well, So You Can Break Them Effectively.

Where Ignorance Is Our Master, There Is No Possibility Of Real Peace.

If There Are Sound Reasons Or Bases For The Points You Demand, Then There Is No Need For Violence. On The Other Hand, When There Is No Sound Reason That Concessions Should Be Made To You But Mainly Your Own Desire, Then Reason Cannot Work And You Have To Rely On Force. Thus Using Force Is Not A Sign Of Strength But Rather A Sign Of Weakness.

I Hold The View That Death Is Rather Like Changing One's Clothes When They Are Torn And Old. It Is Not An End In Itself. Yet Death Is Unpredictable-you Do Not Know When And Howt It Will Take Place.

In The Past, The Respect People Had For Religion Meant That Ethical Practice Was Maintained Through A Majority Following One Religion Or Another. But This Is No Longer The Case. We Must Therefore Find Some Other Way Of Establishing Basic Ethical Principles.

There Has Got To Be A Balance.

It Is Not Enough Simply To Wish That Love And Compassion Should Increase In Us. We Need To Make A Sustained Effort, Again And Again, To Cultivate The Positive Aspects Within Us - And The Key Here Is Constant Familiarity. The Nature Of Human Thoughts And Emotions Is Such That The More You Engage In Them, The More You Consciously Develop Them, The More Powerful They Become.

It Is Necessary To Help Others, Not Only In Our Prayers, But In Our Daily Lives. If We Find We Cannot Help Others, The Least We Can Do Is To Desist From Harming Them.

Peace Of Mind Is The Basis Of A Healthy Body And A Healthy Mind; So Peace Of Mind, A Calm Mind, Is Very, Very Important.

There Are Five Billion Human Beings And In A Certain Way I Think We Need Five Billion Different Religions.

This Generation Has A Responsibility To Reshape The World. Start The Task Even If It Will Not Be Fulfilled In Your Lifetime. Even If It Seems Hopeless Now, Never Give Up. Offer A Positive Vision, With Enthusiasm And Joy, And An Optimistic Outlook.

Each Of You Should Feel That You Have Great Potential And That, With Self-confidence And A Little More Effort, Change Really Is Possible If You Want It. If You Feel That Your Present Way Of Life Is Unpleasant Or Has Some Difficulties, Then Don't Look At These Negative Things. See The Positive Side, The Potential, And Make An Effort.

The Antidote To Hatred In The Heart, The Source Of Violence, Is Tolerance. Tolerance Is An Important Virtue Of Bodhisattvas [enlightened Heroes And Heroines] - It Enables You To Refrain From Reacting Angrily To The Harm Inflicted On You By Others. You Could Call This Practice "inner Disarmament," In That A Well-developed Tolerance Makes You Free From The Compulsion To Counterattack. For The Same Reason, We Also Call Tolerance The "best Armor," Since It Protects You From Being Conquered By Hatred Itself.
