The Real Destroyer Of Inner Peace Is Fear And Distrust. Fear Develops Frustration, Frustration Develops Anger, Anger Develops Violence.

Whether We Love Humanity Or Not, We Must Realize That We Are Part Of It. My Future Depends Entirely On The Future Of Humanity, And So I Am Compelled To Take Care Of Humanity. That Is Why Being Compassionate Is Actually In My Own Best Interest. And A Symptom Of My Own Peace Of Mind Is That I Can Share Comfort With Others Around Me.

In Most Cases, My Visits To The West Are For Promotion Of Human Values And Religious Harmony.

Just As We Take For Granted The Need To Acquire Proficiency In The Basic Academic Subjects, I Am Hopeful That A Time Will Come When We Can Take It For Granted That Children Will Learn, As Part Of The Curriculum, The Indispensability Of Inner Values: Love, Compassion, Justice, And Forgiveness.

We Need To Strengthen Such Inner Values As Contentment, Patience And Tolerance, As Well As Compassion For Others. Keeping In Mind That It Is Expressions Of Affection Rather Than Money And Power That Attract Real Friends, Compassion Is The Key To Ensuring Our Own Well-being.

The World Has Also Learned That Economic Growth, By Itself, Cannot Close The Gap Between Rich And Poor.

Not Only Is Your Own Happiness And Welfare Related To Others, But The More You Help Them, The Happier You Will Be.

You Use Force, You Create Fear. Fear Destroys Trust. Trust Is The Basis Of Harmony. The Hardliner Believes Harmony And Unity Can Be Brought By Force. That's Totally Unscientific, Totally Wrong.

Don't Compare Me With Jesus. He Is A Great Master, A Great Master.

In Our Own Case, We Don't Consider The Loss Of A Monastery Or A Monument The End Of Our Entire Way Of Life. If One Monastery Is Destroyed, Sometimes It Happens.

Compassion Suits Our Physical Condition, Whereas Anger, Fear And Distrust Are Harmful To Our Well-being. Therefore, Just As We Learn The Importance Of Physical Hygiene To Physical Health, To Ensure Healthy Minds, We Need To Learn Some Kind Of Emotional Hygiene.

If We Human Beings Rely Only On Material Development, We Can’t Be Sure Of A Positive Outcome. Employing Technology Motivated By Anger And Hatred Is Likely To Be Destructive. It Will Only Be Beneficial If We Seek The Welfare Of All Beings. Human Beings Are The Only Species With The Potential To Destroy The World. Because Of The Risks Of Unrestrained Desire And Greed We Need To Cultivate Contentment And Simplicity.

The Compassion We Feel Normally Is Biased And Mixed With Attachment. Genuine Compassion Flows Towards All Living Beings, Particularly Your Enemies. If I Try To Develop Compassion Towards My Enemy, It May Not Benefit Him Directly, He May Not Even Be Aware Of It. But It Will Immediately Benefit Me By Calming My Mind. On The Other Hand, If I Dwell On How Awful Everything Is, I Immediately Lose My Peace Of Mind.

A Sense Of Concern For Others Gives Our Lives Meaning; It Is The Root Of All Human Happiness

Never Give Up No Matter What Is Going On Never Give Up Develop The Heart Too Much Energy In Your Country Is Spent Developing The Mind Instead Of The Heart Be Compassionate Not Just To Your Friends But To Everyone Be Compassionate Work For Peace In Your Heart And In The World Work For Peace And I Say Again Never Give Up No Matter What Is Going On Around You Never Give Up

We Need To Employ A Secular Approach To Ethics, Secular In The Indian Sense Of Respecting All Religious Traditions And Even The Views Of Non-believers In An Unbiased Way. Secular Ethics Rooted In Scientific Findings, Common Experience And Common Sense Can Easily Be Introduced Into The Secular Education System. If We Can Do That There Is A Real Prospect Of Making This 21st Century An Era Of Peace And Compassion.

Each Of Us Has The Potential To Contribute... You Have A Great Opportunity To Make A New Shape Of The World.

On The Other Hand, If We Have Peace Of Mind, Even Negative Experiences Do Not Upset Us. Peace Of Mind Is Also Good For Our Physical Health. Medical Experts Have Found That Anger, Hatred And Fear Eat Into Our Immune System. Being Calm And Relaxed Is Better For Our Physical Well-being.

It Is Important That When Pursing Our Own Self-interest We Should Be 'wise Selfish' And Not 'foolish Selfish'. Being Foolish Selfish Means Pursuing Our Own Interests In A Narrow, Shortsighted Way. Being Wise Selfish Means Taking A Broader View And Recognizing That Our Own Long-term Individual Interest Lies In The Welfare Of Everyone. Being Wise Selfish Means Being Compassionate.

In Some Cases, In Order To Protect Global Issues Some Sacrifice For National Interest Is Worth It In The Long Run. Global Warming, These Things, They Suffer Everybody.

The Feeling Of Being Happy Or Unhappy Rarely Depends On Our Absolute State, But On Our Perception Of The Situation, On Our Capacity To Be Satisfied With What We Have.

Many Problems That Confront Us Today Are Created By Man, Whether They Are Violent Conflicts, Destruction Of The Environment, Poverty Or Hunger. These Problems Can Be Resolved Thanks To Human Efforts By Understanding That We Are Brother And Sister And By Developing This Sense Of Closeness. We Must Cultivate A Universal Responsibility Toward Each Other And Extend It To The Planet That We Have To Share.

If The Mind Is Tranquil And Occupied With Positive Thoughts, The Body Will Not Easily Fall Prey To Disease

We Need To Learn How To Want What We Have Not To Have What We Want In Order To Get Steady And Stable Happiness

Everyone Wants To Be Happy; Happiness Is A Right. And While On A Secondary Level Differences Exist Of Nationality, Faith, Family Background, Social Status And So On, More Important Is That On A Human Level We Are The Same. None Of Us Wants To Face Problems, And Yet We Create Them By Stressing Our Differences. If We See Each Other Just As Fellow Human Beings, There'll Be No Basis For Fighting Or Conflict Between Us.

Today, More Than Ever Before, Life Must Be Characterized By A Sense Of Universal Responsibility, Not Only Nation To Nation And Human To Human, But Also Human To Other Forms Of Life.

When A Person Is In A Miserable Situation, Then, Yes, It Is Difficult To Develop Genuine Compassion Toward Others. That's Why I Find It Difficult To Say To Poor People, "please Have Compassion Toward Millionaires." That's Not Easy.

We May Be Different Races And Religions But We Are All Part Of The Same Human Family

Some Mischievous People Always There. Last Several Thousand Years, Always There. In Future, Also.

We All Have To Live Together, So We Might As Well Live Together Happily.

Religion Does Not Mean Just Precepts, A Temple, Monastery, Or Other External Signs, For These As Well As Hearing And Thinking Are Subsidiary Factors In Taming The Mind.

With The Realization Of Ones Own Potential And Self-confidence In Ones Ability, One Can Build A Better World. According To My Own Experience, Self-confidence Is Very Important. That Sort Of Confidence Is Not A Blind One; It Is An Awareness Of Ones Own Potential. On That Basis, Human Beings Can Transform Themselves By Increasing The Good Qualities And Reducing The Negative Qualities.

I Think The Problem Is These Basic Sort Of Human Values From Our - From The Beginning, From Birth, Are Not Sort Of Properly Nurtured. So Then Our Mind, Our Brain, Through Education And Also Difference Of Experiences, That Eventually, These Basic Values Or What Are Called Dominant, Not Have The Catching Up Our Intelligence, Experience Growth, That Also Should Grow. Then Our Life Become More Human.

I Always Believe The Rule By King Or Official Leader Is Outdated. Now We Must Catch Up With The Modern World.

We Must Recognize That The Suffering Of One Person Or One Nation Is The Suffering Of Humanity.

Pain Is Inevitable,suffering Is Optional... We Have Bigger Houses,but Smaller Families. More Conveniences,but Less Time. We Have Knowledge,but Less Judgements; More Experts,but More Problems ; More Medicines But Less Health.

Because We All Share An Identical Need For Love, It Is Possible To Feel That Anybody We Meet, In Whatever Circumstances, Is A Brother Or Sister. No Matter How New The Face Or How Different The Dress And Behavior, There Is No Significant Division Between Us And Other People. It Is Foolish To Dwell On External Differences, Because Our Basic Natures Are The Same.

In The Present Circumstances, No One Can Afford To Assume That Someone Else Will Solve Their Problems. Every Individual Has A Responsibility To Help Guide Our Global Family In The Right Direction. Good Wishes Are Not Sufficient; We Must Become Actively Engaged.

All Beings Come From A Mother's Womb. We Should Have A Clear Realization Of The Oneness Of All Humanity.

It Is Important To Pray For Peace. . . But You Must Also Take Actions To Make That Happen. Every Single Day.

I Am Convinced That Everyone Can Develop A Good Heart And A Sense Of Universal Responsibility With Or Without Religion.

Every Religion Emphasizes Human Improvement, Love, Respect For Others, Sharing Other People's Suffering. On These Lines Every Religion Had More Or Less The Same Viewpoint And The Same Goal.

For Change To Happen In Any Community, The Initiative Must Come From The Individual.

Fear, Hatred, And Suspicion Narrow Your Mind - Compassion Opens It.

Appreciate How Rare And Full Of Potential Your Situation Is In This World, Then Take Joy In It, And Use It To Your Best Advantage.

Inner Darkness, Which We Call Ignorance, Is The Root Of Suffering. The More Inner Light That Comes, The More Darkness Will Diminish. This Is The Only Way To Achieve Salvation Or Nirvana.

People Assume That Happiness Stems From Collecting Things Outside Of Yourself, Whereas True Happiness Stems From Removing Things From Inside Of Yourself

Unfortunate Events Though Potentially A Source Of Anger And Despair Have Equal Potential To Be A Source Of Spiritual Growth. Whether Or Not This Is The Outcome Depends On Your Response.

When We Speak Of A Calm State Of Mind Or Peace Of Mind, We Shouldn't Confuse That With An Insensitive State Of Apathy. Having A Calm Or Peaceful State Of Mind Doesn't Mean Being Spaced Out Or Completely Empty. Peace Of Mind Or A Calm State Of Mind Is Rooted In Affection And Compassion And Is Sensitive And Responsive To Others.

Human Beings Will Continue To Deceive And Overpower One Another. Basically, Everyone Exists In The Very Nature Of Suffering, So To Abuse Or Mistreat Each Other Is Futile. The Foundation Of All Spiritual Practice Is Love. That You Practice This Well Is My Only Request.

I Totally Disagree With The View That The Tibet Struggle Will Die, And There Will Be No Hope For Tibet, After The Dalai Lama Passes Away.
