I Don't Mean We Need To Change The Whole System, Just Improve It. If Science Proves Some Belief Of Buddhism Wrong, Then Buddhism Will Have To Change. In My View, Science And Buddhism Share A Search For The Truth And For Understanding Reality. By Learning From Science About Aspects Of Reality Where Its Understanding May Be More Advanced, I Believe That Buddhism Enriches Its Own Worldview.

There Are Techniques Of Buddhism, Such As Meditation, That Anyone Can Adopt. And, Of Course, There Are Christian Monks And Nuns Who Already Use Buddhist Methods In Order To Develop Their Devotion, Compassion, And Ability To Forgive.

The Motivation Of All Religious Practice Is Similar: Love, Sincerity, Honesty. The Way Of Life Of Practically All Religious Persons Is Consistent. The Teachings Of Tolerance, Love, And Compassion Are The Same.

Compassion And Love Is The Source Of External And Internal Peace And Is Also The Root Of Racial Survival.

The Mind Is Key. If Anything Should Be Considered A God, So To Speak, It Is The Mind, Not Money. A Healthy Positive Mind Is The Utmost Priority. I Find It Hard To Imagine How A Person With Great Wealth, Bad Health, No Friends, And No Peace Of Mind Could Feel Even Slightly Happy.

While It Is All Very Well To Distinguish Happiness That Is Transient From That Which Is Lasting, Between Ephemeral And Genuine Happiness, The Only Happiness It Is Meaningful To Speak Of When A Person Is Dying From Thirst Is Access To Water.

True Compassion Is Not Just An Emotional Response, But A Firm Commitment Founded On Reason. Therefore, A Truly Compassionate Attitude Toward Others Does Not Change, Even If They Behave Negatively. Through Universal Altruism, You Develop A Feeling Of Responsibility For Others: The Wish To Help Them Actively Overcome Their Problems.

It Is Crucial That We Realize The Great Value Of Human Existence, The Opportunity And The Potential That Our Brief Lives Afford Us. It Is Only As Humans That We Have The Possibility Of Implementing Changes In Our Lives.

If We Had To Accept The Idea Of An Independent Creator, The Explanations Given In [several Buddhist Texts] Which Completely Refutes The Existence Per Se Of All Phenomena, Would Be Negated.

My Overriding Belief Is That It Is Always Possible For Criminals To Improve And That By Its Very Finality The Death Penalty Contradicts This.

People Need To Climb The Mountain Not Simple Because It Is There But Because The Soulful Divinity Needs To Be Mated With The Spirit.

One Of The Expressions Of Western Over-reliance On Technology Can Be Seen In The Lack Of Patience In Industrial Society. When You Deal With Technology, Everything Happens At The Touch Of A Button. This Conditions You To Become So Impatient That When You Have An Emotional Or Personal Crisis, You Don't Allow Time For The Solution To Take Effect. This Leads To All Sorts Of Rash Responses, Like Quarrels, Fights And So On.

Every Human Action, Whether It Has Become Positive Or Negative, Must Depend On Motivation.

According To Buddhism, Individuals Are Masters Of Their Own Destiny. And All Living Beings Are Believed To Possess The Nature Of The Primordial Buddha Samantabhadra, The Potential Or Seed Of Enlightenment, Within Them. So Our Future Is In Our Own Hands. What Greater Free Will Do We Need?

The More We Care For The Happiness Of Others, The Greater Is Our Own Sense Of Well-being.

Hard Times Build Determination And Inner Strength. Through Them We Can Also Come To Appreciate The Uselessness Of Anger.

Up To Now My Involvement In The Tibetan Freedom Struggle Has Been Part Of My Spiritual Practice, Because The Issues Of The Survival Of The Buddha Teaching And The Freedom Of Tibet Are Very Much Related. In This Particular Struggle, There Is No Problem With Many Monks And Nuns, Including Myself, Joining.

Whether One Is Rich Or Poor, Educated Or Illiterate, Religious Or Nonbelieving, Man Or Woman, Black, White, Or Brown, We Are All The Same. Physically, Emotionally, And Mentally, We Are All Equal. We All Share Basic Needs For Food, Shelter, Safety, And Love. We All Aspire To Happiness And We All Shun Suffering. Each Of Us Has Hopes, Worries, Fears, And Dreams. Each Of Us Wants The Best For Our Family And Loved Ones. We All Experience Pain When We Suffer Loss And Joy When We Achieve What We Seek. On This Fundamental Level, Religion, Ethnicity, Culture, And Language Make No Difference.

It Seems To Me That Self Confidence And The Ability To Stand One's Ground Are Essential If We Want To Succeed In Life. I Am Not Talking Of Stupid Self-assurance But Of An Awareness Of Our Inner Potential, A Certainty That We Can Always Correct Our Behavior, Improve Ourselves, Enrich Ourselves, And That Things Are Never Hopeless

Always Engage Yourself Positively With Situations.

The Purpose Of Life Is To Increase The Warm Heart.

Sectarian Feelings And Criticism Of Other Teachings Or Other Sects Is Very Bad, Poisonous, And Should Be Avoided.

Meditation Is Valuable For All Of Humanity Because It Involves Looking Inward. People Don't Have To Be Religious To Look Inside Themselves More Carefully. It Is Constructive And Worthwhile To Analyze Our Emotions, Including Compassion And Our Sense Of Caring, So That We Can Become More Calm And Happy.

Whether We Love Humanity Or Not, We Must Realize That We Are Part Of It. My Future Depends Entirely On The Future Of Humanity, And So I Am Compelled To Take Care Of Humanity. That Is Why Being Compassionate Is Actually In My Own Best Interest. And A Symptom Of My Own Peace Of Mind Is That I Can Share Comfort With Others Around Me.

It Is A Wonderful Thing If One Can Use One's Place Of Work As A Place Of Spiritual Practice As Well.

Differences In Religious Beliefs, Politics, Social Status, And Position Are All Secondary. When We Look At Someone With Compassion, We Are Able To See Beyond These Secondary Differences And Connect To The Primary Essence That Binds All Humans Together As One.

The Root Of Happiness Is Altruism - The Wish To Be Of Service To Others.

It Is My Fundamental Conviction That Compassion - The Natural Capacity Of The Human Heart To Feel Concern For And Connection With Another Human Being - Constitutes A Basic Aspect Of Our Nature Shared By All Human Beings, As Well As Being The Foundation Of Our Happiness. In Order To Lead A Meaningful Life, You Need To Cherish Others, Pay Attention To Human Values And Try To Cultivate Inner Peace.

According To Buddhist Psychology Most Of Our Troubles Stem From Attachment To Things That We Mistakenly See As Permanent.

On A Certain Day, Month And Year One Should Observe The Ceremony Of Tree-planting. Thus, One Fulfils One's Responsibilities, Serves One's Fellow-beings Which Not Only Brings Happiness But Benefits All.

Basically, A Human Being Is A Social Animal. So, If You Create Some Short Moment Of Happiness For People, You Get Deep Satisfaction.

The Training Of The Mind Is An Art. If This Can Be Considered Art, One's Life Is Art.

Compassion Is Something Really Worthwhile. It Is Not Just A Religious Or Spiritual Subject, Not A Matter Of Ideology. It Is Not A Luxury, It Is A Necessity.

We Need To Understand How Destructive Emotions Affect Us And Constructive Emotions Can Help Us, So That We Can Maintain Our Peace Of Mind.

Unless The Direction Of Science Is Guided By A Consciously Ethical Motivation, Especially Compassion, Its Effects May Fail To Bring Benefit. They May Indeed Cause Great Harm.

Whatever Forms Of Meditation You Practice, The Most Important Point Is To Apply Mindfulness Continuously, And Make A Sustained Effort. It Is Unrealistic To Expect Results From Meditation Within A Short Period Of Time. What Is Required Is Continuous Sustained Effort.

Freedom Is The Real Source Of Human Happiness And Creativity. Irrespective Of Whether You Are A Believer Or Nonbeliever, Whether Buddhist, Christian, Or Jew, The Important Thing Is To Be A Good Human Being.

Developing Inner Values Is Much Like Physical Exercise. The More We Train Our Abilities, The Stronger They Become. The Difference Is That, Unlike The Body, When It Comes To Training The Mind, There Is No Limit To How Far We Can Go.

The Many Factors Which Divide Us Are Actually Much More Superficial Than Those We Share. Despite All Of The Things That Differentiate Us - Race, Language, Religion, Gender, Wealth And So On - We Are All Equal Concerning Our Fundamental Humanity.

Though We May Have Temporary Success, Ultimately Our Hatred Or Anger Will Create Futher Difficulties. Anger Makes For Swift Solutions. Yet, When We Face Problems With Compassion, Sincerity, And Good Motivation, Our Solutions May Take Longer, But Ultimately They Are Better.

When We Consider Reality Itself We Quickly Become Aware Of Its Infinite Complexity, And We Realize That Our Habitual Perception Of It Is Often Inadequate. If This Were Not So, The Concept Of Deception Would Be Meaningless.

Education Is The Proper Way To Promote Compassion And Tolerance In Society. Compassion And Peace Of Mind Bring A Sense Of Confidence That Reduce Stress And Anxiety, Whereas Anger And Hatred Come From Frustration And Undermine Our Sense Of Trust. Because Of Ignorance, Many Of Our Problems Are Our Own Creation. Education, However, Is The Instrument That Increases Our Ability To Employ Our Own Intelligence.

If The Dalai Lama Joins One Party, Then That Makes It Hard For The System To Work.

Because We All Share This Planet Earth, We Have To Learn To Live In Harmony And Peace With Each Other And With Nature. This Is Not Just A Dream, But A Necessity.

Material Progress And A Higher Standard Of Living Bring Us Greater Comfort And Health, But Do Not Lead To A Transformation Of The Mind, Which Is The Only Thing Capable Of Providing Lasting Peace. Profound Happiness, Unlike Fleeting Pleasures, Is Spiritual In Nature. It Depends On The Happiness Of Others And It Is Based On Love And Affection.

For Those Who May Not Find Happiness To Exercise Religious Faith, It's Okay To Remain A Radical Atheist; It's Absolutely An Individual Right, But The Important Thing Is With A Compassionate Heart - Then No Problem.
