Without Religion, Also There Is A Way, It Could Be This Way, Through Education, Through Scientific Findings, Then You Get Conviction. Not Necessarily Really Love Other, But For Their Own Interest They Are Showing Love, Compassion To Other Like That.

Although You Can Find Certain Differences Among The Buddhist Philosophical Schools About How The Universe Came Into Being, The Basic Common Question Addressed Is How The Two Fundamental Principles-external Matter And Internal Mind Or Consciousness-although Distinct, Affect One Another. External Causes And Conditions Are Responsible For Certain Of Our Experiences Of Happiness And Suffering. Yet We Find That It Is Principally Our Own Feelings, Our Thoughts And Our Emotions, That Really Determine Whether We Are Going To Suffer Or Be Happy.

A Lack Of Transparency Results In Distrust And A Deep Sense Of Insecurity.

Up To Now My Involvement In The Tibetan Freedom Struggle Has Been Part Of My Spiritual Practice, Because The Issues Of The Survival Of The Buddha Teaching And The Freedom Of Tibet Are Very Much Related. The Basic Buddhist Stand On The Question Of Equality Between The Genders Is Age-old. At The Highest Tantric Levels, At The Highest Esoteric Level, You Must Respect Women: Every Woman.

It Is Our Basic Right To Be A Happy Person, Happy Family, And Eventually A Happy World. That Should Be Our Goal.

The Source Of Peace Is Within Us; So Also The Source Of War. And The Real Enemy Is Within Us, And Not Outside. The Source Of War Is Not The Existence Of Nuclear Weapons Or Other Arms. It Is The Minds Of Human Beings Who Decide To Push The Button And To Use Those Arms Out Of Hatred, Anger Or Greed.

It Is Time To Fill The World With Strong And Powerful Deeds. It Is Common Knowledge That No Great Captain In The World Has Ever Destroyed All Of His Enemies And Lived With A Sense Of Satisfaction. If One Enemy Is Killed, Two More Will Appear. It Is Important We Cultivate Love And Compassion To All The Sentient Beings Which Is The Way To Bring Peace To All.

Every Human Actions Becomes Dangerous When It Is Deprived Of Human Feeling. When They Are Performed With Feeling And Respect For Human Values, All Activities Become Constructive.

While People Are Often Content To Criticize And Blame Others For What Goes Wrong, Surely We Should At Least Attempt To Put Forward Constructive Ideas. One Thing Is For Certain: Given Human Beings' Love Of Truth, Justice, Peace, And Freedom, Creating A Better, More Compassionate World Is A Genuine Possibility. The Potential Is There.

We Have To Adopt A Wider Perspective, And Always Find Common Things Between The People Of North, East, South, And West. Conflict Comes From The Basis Of Differencs.

I Have Found A Much Greater Appreciation Of Buddhism Because I Couldn't Take It For Granted Here In Exile.

Without Mutual Tolerance Emerging As The Foundation, Terrible Situations Like Those Of Tibet And Sri Lanka, Bosnia And Rwanda, Can Never Be Effectively Improved.

Peace, In The Sense Of The Absence Of War, Is Of Little Value To Someone Who Is Dying Of Hunger Or Cold. It Will Not Remove The Pain Of Torture Inflicted On A Prisoner Of Conscience. It Does Not Comfort Those Who Have Lost Their Loved Ones In Floods Caused By Senseless Deforestation In A Neighboring Country. Peace Can Only Last Where Human Rights Are Respected, Where The People Are Fed, And Where Individuals And Nations Are Free.

It Is Crucial That We Realize The Great Value Of Human Existence, The Opportunity And The Potential That Our Brief Lives Afford Us. It Is Only As Humans That We Have The Possibility Of Implementing Changes In Our Lives.

It Is My Belief That Whereas The Twentieth Century Has Been A Century Of War And Untold Suffering, The Twenty-first Century Should Be One Of Peace And Dialogue. The Foundation Of The Buddha's Teachings Lies In Compassion, And The Reason For Practicing The Teachings Is To Wipe Out The Persistence Of Ego, The Number-one Enemy Of Compassion.

Our Enemies Provide Us With A Precious Opportunity To Practice Patience And Love. We Should Have Gratitude Toward Them.

We Must Recognize That All Beings Want The Same Thing We Want. This Is The Way To Achieve A True Understanding, Unfettered By Artificial Consideration.

If We Lose Our Hope, That's Our Real Disaster!

Many People And Companies Only Have One Goal: Money, Money, And More Money. Greed Is Ok When You Let Others Profit From It, But Greed For Oneself Is Bad, It Makes You Ill.

So Long As Space Remains So Long As Sentient Beings' Suffering Remains I Will Remain In Order To Help, In Order To Serve.

Even Without A Religion, We Can Become A Good Human Being.

Rich Or Poor, Educated Or Uneducated, Belonging To One Nation Or Another, To One Religion Or Another, Adhering To This Ideology Or That, Ultimately Each Of Is Just A Human Being Like Everyone Else. We All Desire Happiness And Do Not Want Suffering.

With Realization Of One's Own Potential And Self-confidence In One's Ability, One Can Build A Better World.

Sometimes Religion Becomes Yet Another Source For More Division And Even Open Conflict. Because Of That Situation, I Feel The Different Religious Traditions Have A Great Responsibility To Provide Peace Of Mind And A Sense Of Brotherhood And Sisterhood Among Humanity.

We Have To Think And See How We Can Fundamentally Change Our Education System So That We Can Train People To Develop Warm-heartedness Early On In Order To Create A Healthier Society. I Don't Mean We Need To Change The Whole System, Just Improve It. We Need To Encourage An Understanding That Inner Peace Comes From Relying On Human Values Like, Love, Compassion, Tolerance And Honesty, And That Peace In The World Relies On Individuals Finding Inner Peace.

Mentally, Physically And Emotionally We Are The Same. We Each Have The Potential To Good And Bad And To Be Overcome By Disturbing Emotions Such As Anger, Fear, Hatred, Suspicion And Greed. These Emotions Can Be The Cause Of Many Problems. On The Other Hand If You Cultivate Loving Kindness, Compassion And Concern For Others, There Will Be No Room For Anger, Hatred And Jealousy.

If The Mind Is Dominated By Hatred, The Best Part Of The Brain, Which Is Used To Judge Right And Wrong, Does Not Function Properly.

Each Of You Should Feel That You Have Great Potential And That, With Self-confidence And A Little More Effort, Change Really Is Possible If You Want It. If You Feel That Your Present Way Of Life Is Unpleasant Or Has Some Difficulties, Then Don't Look At These Negative Things. See The Positive Side, The Potential, And Make An Effort.

Education Is The Best Way To Train Ourselves That We Will Secure Our Own Well-being By Concerning Ourselves With Others. It Is Possible To Create A Better World, A More Compassionate, More Peaceful World, Which Is Not Only In Everyone’s Interest, But Is Everyone’s Responsibility To Achieve.

In The Past, The Respect People Had For Religion Meant That Ethical Practice Was Maintained Through A Majority Following One Religion Or Another. But This Is No Longer The Case. We Must Therefore Find Some Other Way Of Establishing Basic Ethical Principles.

My Overriding Belief Is That It Is Always Possible For Criminals To Improve And That By Its Very Finality The Death Penalty Contradicts This.

One Mongolian Leader Became A Very, Very Brutal Dictator And Eventually Became A Murderer. Previously, He Was A Monk, And Then He Became A Revolutionary. Under The Influence Of His New Ideology, He Actually Killed His Own Teacher. Pol Pot's Family Background Was Buddhist. Whether He Himself Was A Buddhist At A Young Age, I Don't Know. Even Chairman Mao's Family Background Was Buddhist. So One Day, If The Dalai Lama Becomes A Mass Murderer, He Will Become The Most Deadly Of Mass Murderers.

When Educating The Minds Of Our Youth, We Must Not Forget To Educate Their Hearts.

On The Philosophical Level, Both Buddhism And Modern Science Share A Deep Suspicion Of Any Notion Of Absolutes, Whether Conceptualize As A Transcendent Being, As An Eternal, Unchanging Principle Such As Soul, Or As A Fundamental Substratum Of Reality. ... Western Nations Get Rich By Using Resources Such As Arab Oil. Meanwhile, The Countries Supplying Them Raw Materials Remain Poor. Due To Such Injustices, Jealousies Are Created.

I Feel Many Problems That We Are Facing, Are Man-made Problems, We Have Too Much Emphasis On This Secondary Thing, Forgetting Our Foundation. At Foundation, We Are The Same Human Being And We Are Sharing The Same Planet. Compassion Can Be Roughly Defined In Terms Of A State Of Mind That Is Nonviolent, Nonharming, And Nonaggressive. It Is A Mental Attitude Based On The Wish For Others To Be Free Of Their Suffering And Is Associated With A Sense Of Commitment, Responsibility, And Respect Towards Others.

If Your Own Mental Attitude Is Correct, Even If You Remain In A Hostile Atmosphere, You Feel Happy.

The Very Purpose Of Religion Is To Control Yourself, Not To Criticise Others.

Education Is The Way To Achieve Far-reaching Results, It Is The Proper Way To Promote Compassion And Tolerance In Society.

If Science Proves Some Belief Of Buddhism Wrong, Then Buddhism Will Have To Change.

It Is Necessary To Help Others, Not Only In Our Prayers, But In Our Daily Lives. If We Find We Cannot Help Others, The Least We Can Do Is To Desist From Harming Them.

Consciousness Will Always Be Present, Though A Particular Consciousness May Cease. It Has No Beginning, And It Will Have Not End.

If You Have Fear Of Some Pain Or Suffering, You Should Examine Whether There Is Anything You Can Do About It. If You Can, There Is No Need To Worry About It; If You Cannot Do Anything, Then There Is Also No Need To Worry.

Taking Care Of Our Planet Is Like Taking Care Of Our Houses. Since We Human Beings Come From Nature, There Is No Point In Our Going Against Nature, Which Is Why I Say The Environment Is Not A Matter Of Religion Or Ethics Or Morality. These Are Luxuries, Since We Can Survive Without Them. But We Will Not Survive If We Continue To Go Against Nature.

Inner Peace Is The Key: If You Have Inner Peace, The External Problems Do Not Affect Your Deep Sense Of Peace And Tranquility... Without This Inner Peace, No Matter How Comfortable Your Life Is Materially, You May Still Be Worried, Disturbed Or Unhappy Because Of Circumstances.

Whether We Love Humanity Or Not, We Must Realize That We Are Part Of It. My Future Depends Entirely On The Future Of Humanity, And So I Am Compelled To Take Care Of Humanity. That Is Why Being Compassionate Is Actually In My Own Best Interest. And A Symptom Of My Own Peace Of Mind Is That I Can Share Comfort With Others Around Me.

Look At South Africa, The Former Soviet Union, And The Middle East. They Still Have Many Problems, Setbacks As Well As Breakthroughs, But Basically Changes Have Happened That Were Considered Unthinkable A Decade Ago.

It Is Important To Reflect On The Kindness Of Others. Every Aspect Of Our Present Well-being Is Due To Others' Hard Work. The Buildings We Live And Work In, The Roads We Travel, The Clothes We Wear, And The Food We Eat, Are All Provided By Others. None Of Them Would Exist But For The Kindness Of So Many People Unknown To Us.
