Our Religion Should Be Incorporated Within Ourselves, A Part Of Our Being That Cannot Be Laid Off.

We Too Often Satisfy Ourselves With The Perishable Things Of Time, Forgetting The Opportunities We Have Of Developing Within Us The Great, The Eternal Principles Of Life And Truth. The Lord Wishes To Establish A Closer And More Intimate Relationship Between Himself And Us; He Wishes To Elevate Us In The Scale Of Being And Intelligence, And This Can Only Be Done Through The Medium Of The Everlasting Gospel Which Is Specially Prepared For This Purpose.

Our Being Edified At Conference Depends On Us. It Becomes Necessary That We Prepare Our Hearts To Receive And Profit By The Suggestions That May Be Made By The Speakers During The Progress Of The Conference, Which May Be Prompted By The Spirit Of The Lord. I Have Thought, And Still Think, That Our Being Edified Does Not So Much Depend Upon The Speaker As Upon Ourselves.

If A Person Wants To Enjoy The Spirit Of The Lord...always Cultivate A Spirit Of Gratitude. It Is The Duty Of Every Latter-day Saint To Cultivate A Spirit Of Gratitude.

Every Man And Woman Who Serves The Lord, No Matter How Faithful They May Be, Have Their Dark Hours; But If They Have Lived Faithfully, Light Will Burst Upon Them And Relief Will Be Furnished.

. . . This Is The High Destiny Of The Sons Of God, They Who Overcome, Who Are Obedient To His Commandments, Who Purify Themselves Even As He Is Pure. They Are To Become Like Him; They Will See Him As He Is; They Will Behold His Face And Reign With Him In His Glory, Becoming Like Unto Him In Every Particular.

The God Of The World Is The Gold And The Silver. The World Worships This God. It Is All-powerful To Them, Though They Might Not Be Willing To Acknowledge It. Now It Is Designed, In The Providence Of God, That The Latter-day Saints Should Show Whether They Have So Far Advanced In The Knowledge, In The Wisdom And In The Power Of God That They Cannot Be Overcome By The God Of The World. We Must Come To That Point.

A Man's Mind Should Be Single To The Glory Of God In Everything That He Starts To Accomplish. We Should Consider That Of Ourselves We Can Do Nothing. We Are The Children Of God. We Are In Darkness, Only As God Enlightens Our Understanding. We Are Powerless, Only As God Helps Us. The Work That We Have To Do Here Is Of That Nature That We Cannot Do It Unless We Have The Assistance Of The Almighty.

When You Find Yourselves A Little Gloomy, Look Around You And Find Somebody That Is In A Worse Plight Than Yourself; Go To Him And Find Out What The Trouble Is, Then Try To Remove It With The Wisdom Which The Lord Bestows Upon You; And The First Thing You Know, Your Gloom Is Gone, You Feel Light, The Spirit Of The Lord Is Upon You, And Everything Seems Illuminated.

I Am Here Wrongfully Convicted And Wrongfully Sentenced.

It Is Our Duty To Try To Be Perfect, … To Improve Each Day, And Look Upon Our Course Last Week And Do Things Better This Week; Do Things Better Today Than We Did Them Yesterday

They Will Sustain The Constitution And Laws And Institutions Of The United States, And Be The Champions Of Liberty And Of That Constitution When Its Integrity Shall Be Threatened.
