To Fall Beneath One's Ideal Is To Lose One's Track In Life; Then Confusion Rises In The Mind, And That Light Which One Should Hold High Becomes Covered And Obscured, So That It Cannot Shine Out To Light One's Path.

Each Human Personality Is Like A Piece Of Music, Having An Individual Tone And A Rhythm Of Its Own.

Everyone Has His Own Imagination Of God. It Is Best If Everyone Is Left To His Own Imagination.

Positive Thinking

The One Spirit Of Life Is Given Different Names, The Sacred Names. We More Easily Recognize The Spirit Of Life By The Particular Name To Which We Are Accustomed. So Far We Are Right, But The Mistake We Make, And It Is To Our Loss, Is To Ignore Or Deny The Same Truth Because It Is Given To Us In Another Form And Under Another Name. We Limit It. We Say The Truth Existed Only In That Period When Certain Teachers Came To The World, And That After That It Stopped.

The Man Who Tries To Prove His Belief Superior To The Faith Of Another, Does Not Know The Meaning Of Religion.

Joy And Sorrow Are The Light And Shade Of Life; Without Light And Shade No Picture Is Clear.

The Only Way To Live In The Midst Of Inharmonious Influences Is To Strengthen The Will Power And Endure All Things, Yet Keeping Fineness Of Character And Nobility Of Manner Together With An Everlasting Heart Full Of Love.

It Is The Peaceful One Who Is Observant. It Is Peace That Gives Him The Power To Observe Keenly. It Is The Peaceful One, Therefore, Who Can Conceive, For Peace Helps Him To Conceive. It Is The Peaceful Who Can Contemplate; One Who Has No Peace Cannot Contemplate Properly. Therefore, All Things Pertaining To Spiritual Progress In Life Depend Upon Peace.

All Ignorance Is The Lack Of Love.

People Have Fought In Vain About The Names And Lives Of Their Saviors, And Have Named Their Religions After The Name Of Their Savior, Instead Of Uniting With Each Other In The Truth That Is Taught.

Music Is The Basis Of The Whole Creation. In Reality The Whole Of Creation Is Music, And What We Call Music Is Simply A Miniature Of The Original Music, Which Is Creation Itself, Expressed In Tone And Rhythm.

The Religion Of The Sufi Is The Religion Of The Heart. The Principal Moral Of The Sufi Is To Consider The Heart Of Others, So That In The Pleasure And Displeasure Of His Fellow-man He Sees The Pleasure And Displeasure Of God.

Atmosphere Is A Silent Music. It Has Its Effect Upon The Listener, Exciting Or Peaceful, Whatever It May Be.

Love Develops Into Harmony, And Of Harmony Is Born Beauty.

The Person Who Is In Tune With The Universe Becomes Like A Radio Receiver, Through Which The Voice Of The Universe Is Transmitted.

It Is Through This Physical Body That The Highest And Greatest Purpose Of Life Is Achieved. A Person Only Calls It The Physical Body In Ignorance. Once The Knowledge Has Come...he Begins To Look Upon It As The Sacred Temple Of God.

What A Great Thing Is Understanding! It Is Priceless. No Man Can Give Greater Pleasure To His Fellow Man Than By Understanding Him.

In Ancient Times The Greatest Of The Prophets Were Great Musicians.

Repose Is The Secret Of All Contemplation And Meditation, The Secret Of Getting In Tune With That Aspect Of Life Which Is The Essence Of All Things. When One Is Not Accustomed To Take Repose, One Does Not Know What Is Behind One's Being.

I Had Composed Songs, I Sang, And Played The Vina. Practising This Music I Arrived At A Stage Where I Touched The Music Of The Spheres. Then Every Soul Became A Musical Note, And All Life Became Music. Inspired By It I Spoke To The People, And Those Who Were Attracted By My Words Listened To Them Instead Of Listening To My Songs.

As One Can See When The Eyes Are Open, So One Can Understand When The Heart Is Open.

Externally We Are A Single Being, But Internally We Are A World.

The Voice Is Not Only Indicative Of Man's Character, But It Is The Expression Of His Spirit. Other Sounds Can Be Louder Than The Voice, But No Sound Can Be More Living.

Have You Known What It Is To Give Your Meal To Another And To Go Without Yourself? It Gives A Happiness That No Dinner Eaten By Yourself Can Give. Have You Known What It Is To Give Your Coat To Another And Do Without It Yourself? It Gives A Joy That The Satisfaction Of Your Own Wants Cannot Give You.

Stand Through Life Firm As A Rock In The Sea, Undisturbed And Unmoved By Its Ever-rising Waves

When One Bell Is Rung, By The Sound Of That One Bell Other Bells Will Also Vibrate. So It Is With The Dancing Of The Soul...it Produces Its Reaction, And That Again, Will Make Other Souls Dance.

Music Touches Our Innermost Being, And In That Way Produces New Life, A Life That Gives Exaltation To The Whole Being, Raising It To That Perfection In Which Lies The Fulfillment Of Man's Life.

He Who Sincerely Seeks His Real Purpose In Life Is Himself Sought By That Purpose. As He Concentrates On That Search A Light Begins To Clear His Confusion, Call It Revelation, Call It Inspiration, Call It What You Will. It Is Mistrust That Misleads. Sincerity Leads Straight To The Goal.

Love That Ends Is The Shadow Of Love; True Love Is Without Beginning Or End.

Don't Be Concerned About Being Disloyal To Your Pain By Being Joyous.

God Is Not Justice. Justice Is In His Nature, But Love Is Predominant. People Attach Such Importance To Actions And Their Results. They Do Not Know That Above Action And Result Is A Law Which Can Consume The Fire Of Hell, Which Can Dominate Even If The Whole World Were Being Drowned In The Flood Of Destruction; They Do Not Know That The Power Of Love Is Greater Than Any Other.

Spiritual Progress Is The Changing Of The Point Of View.

What One Really Wants Is Attracted By One, And One Is Attracted By What One Wants.

Humanity, Divine Limitation; Divinity, Human Perfection.

The Soul Of All Is One Soul And The Truth Is One Truth, Under Whatever Religion It Is Hidden.

Every Passion, Every Emotion, Has Its Effect Upon The Mind. Every Change Of Mind, However Slight, Has Its Effect Upon The Body.

Music Should Be Healing. Music Should Uplift The Soul. Music Should Inspire.

Belief And Disbelief Have Divided Humankind Into So Many Sects, Blinding Its Eyes To The Vision Of The Oneness Of All Life.

Once You Have Given Up Your Limited Self Willingly To The Unlimited, You Will Rejoice So Much In That Consciousness That You Will Not Care To Be Small Again.

Things Appear Different From Every Different Plane From Which You Look At Them, And When A Person Standing On Flat Earth Asks A Person Standing On Top Of A Mountain, "do You Also Believe Something?" The Person Cannot Tell Much. The Questioner Must Come To The Top Of The Mountain And See. There Can Be No Link Of Conversation Between Them Until That Time.

The One Thing To Rely Upon Is God's Favor. Do Not Build Either On Your Study Or On Your Meditation, Although They Both Help You. But You Are Dependent On God, Not Even On Your Murshid. Seek Him, Trust Him. In Him Lies Your Life's Purpose, And In Him Is Hidden The Rest Of Your Soul.

My Heart Is Tuned To The Quietness That The Stillness Of Nature Inspires.

Now If I Do Anything It Is To Tune Souls Instead Of Instruments. To Harmonize People Instead Of Notes. If There Is Anything In My Philosophy, It Is The Law Of Harmony: That One Must Put Oneself In Harmony With Oneself And With Others.

For The Value Of Everything Exists For Man Only So Long As He Does Not Understand It. When He Has Fully Understood, The Value Is Lost, Be It The Lowest Thing Or The Highest Thing.

Every Mind Has Its Particular Standard Of Good And Bad, And Of Right And Wrong. This Standard Is Made By What One Has Experienced Through Life, By What One Has Seen Or Heard; It Also Depends Upon One's Belief In A Certain Religion, One's Birth In A Certain Nation And Origin In A Certain Race. But What Can Really Be Called Good Or Bad, Right Or Wrong, Is What Comforts The Mind And What Causes It Discomfort. It Is Not True, Although It Appears So, That It Is Discomfort That Causes Wrongdoing. In Reality, It Is Wrongdoing Which Causes Discomfort, And It Is Right-doing Which Gives Comfort.

There Are Two Aspects Of Individual Harmony: The Harmony Between Body And Soul, And The Harmony Between Individuals. All The Tragedy In The World, In The Individual And In The Multitude, Comes From Lack Of Harmony. And Harmony Is The Best Given By Producing Harmony In One's Own Life.

To Be Really Sorry For One's Errors Is Like Opening The Door Of Heaven.

To Attain Peace, What One Has To Do Is To Seek That Rhythm Which Is In The Depth Of Our Being.

Some People Look For A Beautiful Place, Others Make A Place Beautiful.

Therefore It Is The Law Of The Mystics To See All Things, To Experience All Things, Either Of Heaven Or Earth, And Yet To Say Little; For The Souls Incapable Of Understanding The Possibility Of Their Reach Will Ridicule Them.

Sound Is The Force Of Creation, The True Whole. Music Then, Becomes The Voice Of The Great Cosmic Oneness And Therefore The Optimal Way To Reach This Final State Of Healing.

Instead Of Lamenting Your Fate, Create Your World.

I Gave Up My Music Because I Had Received From It All I Had To Receive. To Serve God One Must Sacrifice The Dearest Thing, And I Sacrificed My Music, The Dearest Thing To Me.

His Constant Fight Is With The Nafs (self-interest), The Root Of All Disharmony And The Only Enemy Of Man. By Crushing This Enemy Man Gains Mastery Over Himself; This Wins For Him Mastery Over The Whole Universe, Because The Wall Standing Between The Self And The Almighty Has Been Broken Down. Gentleness, Mildness, Respect, Humility, Modesty, Self-denial, Conscientiousness, Tolerance And Forgiveness Are Considered By The Sufi As The Attributes Which Produce Harmony Within One's Own Soul As Well As Within That Of Another.

In A Small Affair Or In A Big Affair, First Consult Yourself And Find Out If There Is Any Conflict In Your Own Being About Anything You Want To Do. And When You Find No Conflict There, Then Feel Sure That A Path Is Already Made For You. You Have But To Open Your Eyes And Take A Step Forward, And The Other Step Will Be Led By God.

If A Person Is Cold And Rigid, He Feels Within Himself As If He Were In A Grave. He Is Not Living, He Cannot Enjoy This Life For He Cannot Express Himself And He Cannot See The Light And Life Outside. What Keeps Man From Developing The Heart Quality? His Exacting Attitude. He Wants To Make A Business Of Love. He Says, 'if You Will Love Me, I Will Love You.' If He Can Quicken The Feeling Of Another To Joy Or To Gratitude, By That Much He Adds To His Own Life; He Becomes Himself By That Much More Alive. Whether Conscious Of It Or Not, His Thought Is Affected For The Better By The Joy Or Gratitude Of Another, And His Power And Vitality Increase Thereby, And The Music Of His Life Grows More In Harmony.

Therefore We Must Never Think We Are Sincere Enough, And We Must Always Be On Our Guard Against Influences Which May Carry Us Away From That Sincerity Which Is The Bridge Between Ourselves And Our Ideal. No Study, No Meditation Is More Helpful Than Sincerity Itself.

When The Self Says, 'he Ought To Have Done This, She Ought To Have Said That,' We Say, 'what Does It Matter, Either This Way Or That Way? Every Person Is What He Is; You Cannot Change Him, But You Can Change Yourself.' That Is The Crushing. ... It Is Only In This Way That We Can Crush Our Ego.

Sarcasm Is An Abuse Of The Intellect.

Before Making Peace, War Is Necessary, And That War Must Be Made With Our Self. Our Worst Enemy Is Our Self: Our Faults, Our Weaknesses, Our Limitations. And Our Mind Is Such A Traitor! What Does It? According To That Rhythm That Reflection Will Come True And Happen; And A Man Proves To Be His Own Enemy By His Ignorance Of These Things.

When People Came To Christ Accusing A Person Of Doing Wrong, The Master Could Not Think Of Anything Else But Forgiveness. For He Did Not See In The Wrongdoer What The Others Saw. To Distinguish Between Right And Wrong Is Not The Work Of An Ordinary Mind, And The Curious Thing Is That The More Ignorant A Person Is, The More Ready He Is To Do So.

What We Call Music In Our Everyday Language Is Only A Miniature, Which Our Intelligence Has Grasped From That Music Or Harmony Of The Whole Universe Which Is Working Behind Everything, And Which Is The Source And Origin Of Nature. It Is Because Of This That The Wise Of All Ages Have Considered Music To Be A Sacred Art. For In Music The Seer Can See The Picture Of The Whole Universe; And The Wise Can Interpret The Secret And Nature Of The Working Of The Whole Universe In The Realm Of Music.

Love Manifests Towards Those Whom We Like As Love; Towards Those Whom We Do Not Like As Forgiveness.

The Highest And Greatest Goal That Every Soul Has To Reach Is God. As Everything Needs Renunciation, That Highest Goal Needs The Highest Renunciation.

When We Pay Attention To Nature's Music, We Find That Everything On The Earth Contributes To Its Harmony.
