The Rationale For Loving Others Is The Recognition Of The Simple Fact That Every Living Being Has The Same Right To And The Same Desire For Happiness, And Not Suffering, And The Consideration That You As One Individual Are One Life Unit As Compared With The Mulititude Of Others In Their Ceaseless Quest For Happiness.

Peace, In The Sense Of The Absence Of War, Is Of Little Value To Someone Who Is Dying Of Hunger Or Cold. It Will Not Remove The Pain Of Torture Inflicted On A Prisoner Of Conscience. It Does Not Comfort Those Who Have Lost Their Loved Ones In Floods Caused By Senseless Deforestation In A Neighboring Country. Peace Can Only Last Where Human Rights Are Respected, Where The People Are Fed, And Where Individuals And Nations Are Free.

I Call Myself A Feminist. Isn't That What You Call Someone Who Fights For Women's Rights?

One Of The Basic Points Is Kindness. With Kindness, With Love And Compassion, With His Feeling That Is The Essence Of Brotherhood, Sisterhood, One Will Have Inner Peace. This Compassionate Feeling Is The Basis Of Inner Peace.

I Myself Feel, And Also Tell Other Buddhists That The Question Of Nirvana Will Come Later. There Is Not Much Hurry. If In Day To Day Life You Lead A Good Life, Honesty, With Love, With Compassion, With Less Selfishness, Then Automatically It Will Lead To Nirvana.

Non-violence Means Dialogue, Using Our Language, The Human Language. Dialogue Means Compromise; Respecting Each Other’s Rights; In The Spirit Of Reconciliation There Is A Real Solution To Conflict And Disagreement. There Is No Hundred Percent Winner, No Hundred Percent Loser—not That Way But Half-and-half. That Is The Practical Way, The Only Way.

Let Us Have That Kind Of Effort From All, Except Those Child Or Handicapped Or Too Old. But The Many People, They Sort Of Have The Opportunity To Create Trouble Or To Create A Good Thing, Now Should Think More Seriously, Should Not Indulge Any Work To Create More Problems.

Hatred, Jealousy And Excessive Attachment Cause Suffering And Agitation. I Feel Compassion Can Help Us Overcome These Disturbances And Let Us Return To A Calm State Of Mind. Compassion Is Not Just Being Kind To Your Friend. That Involves Attachment Because It Is Based On Expectation. Compassion Is When You Do Something Good Without Any Expectations - Based On Realizing That "the Other Person Is Also Just Like Me".

My Religion Is Kindness.

We All Have The Potential To Show Others Love And Affection, But As We Progress In Our Materialistic World, These Values Tend To Remain Dormant. We Can Develop Them On The Basis Of Common Sense, Common Experience And Scientific Findings. For It Is These Which Provide Both For Our Happiness And Others' Happiness.

Every Noble Work Is Bound To Face Problems And Obstacles. It Is Important To Check Your Goal And Motivation Thoroughly. One Should Be Very Truthful, Honest, And Reasonable. One's Actions Should Be Good For Others, And For Oneself As Well. Once A Positive Goal Is Chosen, You Should Decide To Pursue It All The Way To The End. Even If It Is Not Realized, At Least There Will Be No Regret.

We Have To Adopt A Wider Perspective, And Always Find Common Things Between The People Of North, East, South, And West. Conflict Comes From The Basis Of Differencs.

When Our Mind Is Calm, We’re Better Able To Find Peace Of Mind And Live A Joyful Life.

I Only Think About Being A Human Being. We All Share The Potential For Positive And Negative Emotions, Yet One Of Our Special Qualities Is Our Human Mind, Our Intelligence. If We Use It Well We'll Be Successful And Happy.

Anger May Bring Extra Energy, But It Eclipses The Best Part Of Our Brain: Its Rationality. The Energy Of Anger Is Almost Always Unreliable.

Once You Have A Genuine Sense Of Concern For Others, There’s No Room For Cheating, Bullying Or Exploitation.

You Use Force, You Create Fear. Fear Destroys Trust. Trust Is The Basis Of Harmony. The Hardliner Believes Harmony And Unity Can Be Brought By Force. That's Totally Unscientific, Totally Wrong.

We Need To Understand How Destructive Emotions Affect Us And Constructive Emotions Can Help Us, So That We Can Maintain Our Peace Of Mind.

China Has To Go Along With World Trends. That's Democracy, Liberty, Individual Freedom. China Sooner Or Later Has To Go That Way. It Cannot Go Backward.

If You Have Only Education And Knowledge And A Lack Of The Other Side, Then You May Not Be A Happy Person, But A Person Of Mental Unrest, Of Frustration. Not Only That, But If You Combine These Two, Your Whole Life Will Be A Constructive And Happy Life. And Certainly You Can Make Immense Benefit For Society And The Betterment Of Humanity. The Problems We Face Today, Violent Conflicts, Destruction Of Nature, Poverty, Hunger, And So On, Are Human-created Problems Which Can Be Resolved Through Human Effort, Understanding And The Development Of A Sense Of Brotherhood And Sisterhood. We Need To Cultivate A Universal Responsibility For One Another And The Planet We Share.

When A Person Is In A Miserable Situation, Then, Yes, It Is Difficult To Develop Genuine Compassion Toward Others. That's Why I Find It Difficult To Say To Poor People, "please Have Compassion Toward Millionaires." That's Not Easy.

We Are Born And Reborn Countless Number Of Times, And It Is Possible That Each Being Has Been Our Parent At One Time Or Another. Therefore, It Is Likely That All Beings In This Universe Have Familial Connections.

Peace Must First Be Developed Within An Individual. And I Believe That Love, Compassion, And Altruism Are The Fundamental Basis For Peace. Once These Qualities Are Developed Within An Individual, He Or She Is Then Able To Create An Atmosphere Of Peace And Harmony. This Atmosphere Can Be Expanded And Extended From The Individual To His Family, From The Family To The Community And Eventually To The Whole World.

Laughing In Full Abandonment Is Very Good For Your Health.

At The Beginning Of This Century, People Never Questioned The Effectiveness Of War, Never Thought There Could Be Real Peace. Now, People Are Tired Of War And See It As Ineffective In Solving Anything.

In Order To Develop The Willpower It Takes To Sacrifice, You Must First Realize That Spending All Your Time And Energy Pursuing Material Comforts Means You Will Eventually Suffer. It's All About Positive And Negative Consequences. It's Very Important To Be Aware That There Are Long-term Consequences [for Every Action].

My Message Is Always The Same: To Cultivate And Practice Love, Kindness, Compassion And Tolerance.

Whether We Love Humanity Or Not, We Must Realize That We Are Part Of It. My Future Depends Entirely On The Future Of Humanity, And So I Am Compelled To Take Care Of Humanity. If You Wish To Experience Peace, Provide Peace For Another.

A Compassionate State Of Mind Brings Inner Peace, And Therefore A Healthier Body.

Love And Compassion Benefit Both Ourselves And Others. Through Kindness To Others, Your Heart And Mind Will Be Peaceful And Open.

Developing Inner Values Is Much Like Physical Exercise. The More We Train Our Abilities, The Stronger They Become. The Difference Is That, Unlike The Body, When It Comes To Training The Mind, There Is No Limit To How Far We Can Go.

Compassion Can Be Roughly Defined In Terms Of A State Of Mind That Is Nonviolent, Nonharming, And Nonaggressive. It Is A Mental Attitude Based On The Wish For Others To Be Free Of Their Suffering And Is Associated With A Sense Of Commitment, Responsibility, And Respect Towards Others.

Attachment Constrains Our Vision So That We Are Not Able To See Things From A Wider Perspective.

The Mind Is Key. If Anything Should Be Considered A God, So To Speak, It Is The Mind, Not Money. A Healthy Positive Mind Is The Utmost Priority. But If We Were To Reverse The Order Of These Priorities, What Would Happen? I Find It Hard To Imagine How A Person With Great Wealth, Bad Health, No Friends, And No Peace Of Mind Could Feel Even Slightly Happy.

I Love Smiles. That Is A Fact. How To Develop Smiles? There Are A Variety Of Smiles. Some Smiles Are Sarcastic. Some Smiles Are Artificial-diplomatic Smiles. These Smiles Do Not Produce Satisfaction, But Rather Fear Or Suspicion. But A Genuine Smile Gives Us Hope, Freshness. If We Want A Genuine Smile, Then First We Must Produce The Basis For A Smile To Come.

Love Is Wanting Others To Be Happy.

We Don't Need To Respond With Desperate Violence.

There Are Five Billion Human Beings And In A Certain Way I Think We Need Five Billion Different Religions, Because There Is Such A Large Variety Of Dispositions. I Believe That Each Individual Should Embark Upon A Spiritual Path That Is Best Suited To His Or Her Mental Disposition, Natural Inclination, Temperament, Belief, Family And Cultural Background.

I Always Believe The Rule By King Or Official Leader Is Outdated. Now We Must Catch Up With The Modern World.

Look At Situations From All Angles, And You Will Become More Open.

If Others Are Happy, We Will Be Happy. If Others Suffer, Ultimately We All Suffer.

Human Use, Population, And Technology Have Reached That Certain Stage Where Mother Earth No Longer Accepts Our Presence With Silence.

Live A Good, Honourable Life. Then When You Get Older And Look Back, You'll Be Able To Enjoy It A Second Time.

As A Buddhist, I View Death As A Normal Process, A Reality That I Accept Will Occur As Long As I Remain In This Earthly Existence. Knowing That I Cannot Escape It, I See No Point In Worrying About It. I Tend To Think Of Death As Being Like Changing Your Clothes When They Are Old And Worn Out, Rather Than As Some Final End. Yet Death Is Unpredictable: We Do Not Know When Or How It Will Take Place. So It Is Only Sensible To Take Certain Precautions Before It Actually Happens.

So The Child's First Experience In This Lifetime At The Beginning, I Think That Immense Affection From Other Is In Our Blood. Modern Education Is Premised Strongly On Materialistic Values. It Is Vital That When Educating Our Children's Brains That We Do Not Neglect To Educate Their Hearts, A Key Element Of Which Has To Be The Nurturing Of Our Compassionate Nature.

An Important Distinction Can Be Made Between Religion And Spirituality. Religion [is] Concerned With Faith In The Claims To Salvation Of One Faith Tradition... Spirituality Is Concerned With Qualities Of The Human Spirit, Love And Compassion, Patience, Tolerance, Forgiveness, Contentment, A Sense Of Responsibility, A Sense Of Harmony, That Bring Happiness Both To Self.

Peace Starts Within Each One Of Us. When We Have Inner Peace, We Can Be At Peace With Those Around Us.

There Is A Common Perception That Compassion Is, If Not Actually An Impediment, At Least Irrelevant To Professional Life. Personally, I Would Argue That Not Only Is It Relevant, But That When Compassion Is Lacking, Our Activities Are In Danger Of Becoming Destructive. This Is Because When We Ignore The Question Of The Impact Our Actions Have On Others' Well-being, Inevitably We End Up Hurting Them.

If I Am Only Happy For Myself, Many Fewer Chances For Happiness. If I Am Happy When Good Things Happen To Other People, Billions More Chances To Be Happy!

To Me There Is No Difference Whether President, Beggar, Or King.

If You Are Showing Love To Your Fellow Human Beings, You Are Showing Love To Your God.

As A Human Being, Anger Is A Part Of Our Mind. Irritation Also Part Of Our Mind. But You Can Do - Anger Come, Go. Never Keep In Your Sort Of - Your Inner World, Then Create A Lot Of Suspicion, A Lot Of Distrust, A Lot Of Negative Things, More Worry.

Even Modern Medical Researchers Have Come To The Conclusion That Peace Of Mind Is Vital For Good Health.

Study And Practice Are Both Very Important, But They Must Go Hand In Hand. Faith Without Knowledge Is Not Sufficient. Faith Needs To Be Supported By Reason. However Intellectual Understanding That Is Not Applied In Practice Is Also Of Little Use. Whatever We Learn From Study We Need To Apply Sincerely In Our Daily Lives.

On The Philosophical Level, Both Buddhism And Modern Science Share A Deep Suspicion Of Any Notion Of Absolutes, Whether Conceptualize As A Transcendent Being, As An Eternal, Unchanging Principle Such As Soul, Or As A Fundamental Substratum Of Reality. ... In The Buddhist Investigation Of Reality, At Least In Principle, Empirical Evidence Should Triumph Over Scriptural Authority, No Matter How Deeply Venerated A Scripture May Be.

As Human Beings We All Want To Be Happy And Free From Misery. We Have Learned That The Key To Happiness Is Inner Peace. The Greatest Obstacles To Inner Peace Are Disturbing Emotions Such As Anger And Attachment, Fear And Suspicion, While Love And Compassion, A Sense Of Universal Responsibility Are The Sources Of Peace And Happiness.

Buddha Urged People To Investigate Things - He Didn't Just Command Them To Believe.

Indulgence In Resentment And Vengeance Will Only Further Increase Miseries To Oneself And Others In This Life And In Lives To Come.

All Human Beings Have An Innate Desire To Overcome Suffering, To Find Happiness. Training The Mind To Think Differently, Through Meditation, Is One Important Way To Avoid Suffering And Be Happy.

I Pray For A More Friendly, More Caring, And More Understanding Human Family On This Planet. To All Who Dislike Suffering, Who Cherish Lasting Happiness, This Is My Heartfelt Appeal.

I Believe Compassion To Be One Of The Few Things We Can Practice That Will Bring Immediate And Long-term Happiness To Our Lives.

You Make Me Happy

(because) The Notion Of Absolute Truth Is Difficult To Sustain Outside The Context Of Religion, Ethical Conduct Is Not Something We Engage In Because It Is Somehow Right In Itself But Because, Like Ourselves, All Others Desire To Be Happy And To Avoid Suffering. Given That This Is A Natural Disposition, Shared By All, It Follows That Each Individual Has A Right To Pursue This Goal. Accordingly, I Suggest That One Of The Things Which Determines Whether An Act Is Ethical Or Not Is Its Effect On Others' Experience Or Expectation Of Happiness.

If We Develop Concern For Other People's Welfare, Share Other People's Suffering, And Help Them, Ultimately We Will Benefit. If We Think Only Of Ourselves And Forget About Others, Ultimately We Will Lose. The More We Care For The Happiness Of Others, The Greater Our Own Sense Of Well-being Becomes.

The Only "definitive Truth" For Buddhism Is The Absolute Negation Of Any One Truth As The Definitive Truth.

The Question Of World Peace, The Question Of Family Peace, The Question Of Peace Between Wife And Husband, Or Peace Between Parents And Children, Everything Is Dependent On That Feeling Of Love And Warmheartedness.

It Is Important To Pray For Peace. . . But You Must Also Take Actions To Make That Happen. Every Single Day.

A Genuine Transformation That Results From Sustained Concerted Effort Is Long Lasting Because It Has A Firm Foundation.

What Is Important Is To See How We Can Best Lead A Meaningful Everyday Life, How We Can Bring About Peace And Harmony In Our Minds, How We Can Help Contribute To Society.

And Peace Of Mind Turns Out To Be A Significant Factor In Our Physical Health Too.

Compassion, Along With Love, Is The Face Of Altruism.

Each One Of Us Is Responsible For The Whole Of Humankind. We Need To Think Of Each Other Really As Brothers And Sisters And To Be Concerned For Each Other’s Welfare. Anger Is The Real Destroyer Of Our Good Human Qualities; An Enemy With A Weapon Cannot Destroy These Qualities, But Anger Can. Anger Is Our Real Enemy.

Happiness Cannot Come From Hatred Or Anger. Nobody Can Say, 'today I Am Happy Because This Morning I Was Angry.' On The Contrary, People Feel Uneasy And Sad And Say, 'today I Am Not Very Happy, Because I Lost My Temper This Morning.'

If You Have Peace Of Mind, When You Meet With Problems And Difficulties They Won’t Disturb Your Inner Peace. You’ll Be Able To Employ Your Human Intelligence More Effectively. But, If Your Mental State Is Disturbed, Full Of Emotion, It Is Very Difficult To Cope With Problems, Because The Mind That Is Full Of Emotion Is Biased, Unable To See Reality. So Whatever You Do Will Be Unrealistic And Naturally Fail.

We All Wish To Live A Happy Life. In Addition, We All Have The Same Right To Fulfil This Goal. And We All Have The Potential To Do So For The Simple Reason That Future Is Not Fixed, It Can Be Changed. Therefore, We Should Live In Hope That We Really Can Overcome Whatever Problems We Face.

So In These Two Field, Now That More Or Less I Think The Spirituality Or Human Values In These Fields, I May Consider My Only Professional Field. The Political, National Struggle, These Are Not My Profession.

Morally Speaking, We Should Be Concerned For Our Whole Environment.

Through Constant Familiarity, We Can Definitely Establish New Behavior Patterns, Using Our Tendency To Form Habits To Our Advantage. If We Make A Steady Effort, I Think We Can Overcome Any Form Of Negative Conditioning And Make Positive Changes In Our Lives. But We Need To Remember That Genuine Change Doesn't Happen Overnight.
