Our Negative Thoughts Are Valuable Messages To Us About Our Deeper Fears And Negative Attitudes. These Usually Are So Basic To Our Thinking And Feeling That We Don't Realize They Are Beliefs At All. We Assume That They Are Simply "the Way Life Is." We May Be Consciously Affirming And Visualizing Prosperity, But If Our Unconscious Belief Is That We Don't Deserve It, Then We Won't Create It. Once We Become Aware Of Our Core Negative Beliefs, They Begin To Heal.

Poverty On Both A Personal And Worldwide Level Is Supported By Our Collective Belief In Scarcity.

If You Are Trying To Appear Calm And Collected On The Outside When Actually You Are Feeling Upset And Angry, Your Children May Mirror This To You By Becoming Wild And Disruptive. While You Are Trying To Maintain Control, They Pick Up The Chaotic Energy Inside Of You And Reflect It In Their Behavior. If You Express Directly What You Are Feeling, Without Trying To Cover It Up, They Will Usually Calm Down. They Feel Comfortable With The Truth, The Congruity Between Your Feelings And Your Words. This Is True Of Other Relationships As Well.

The Most Successful People Are Often Very Intuitive. Consciously Or Unconsciously, They Follow Their Gut Feelings. Following Intuition Puts Us In The Flow - A Very Alive, Productive, And Desirable State.

In Many Other Cultures, And Certainly In The Eastern World, There's Great Value Put On Being, Contemplating, And Even Withdrawing From The World At Certain Times Or For Certain Periods Of Time. But We Don't Really Have That In Our Culture, So It's Difficult For Many Westerners To Learn How To Sit Down Or Lie Down And Just Be Quiet Without Going To Sleep. We're Just Not Trained To Do It.

Work And Play Can Be The Same. When You Are Following Your Energy And Doing What You Want To Do All The Time, The Distinction Between Work And Play Dissolves. Work Is No Longer What You Have To Do, And Play What You Want To Do. When You Are Doing What You Love, You May Work Harder And Produce More Than Ever Before, Because You Are Having Fun.

My Primary Relationship Is With Myself- All Others Are Mirrors Of It. As I Learn To Love Myself, I Automatically Receive The Love And Appreciation That I Desire From Others. If I Am Commited To Myself And To Living My Truth, I Will Attract Others With Equal Commitment. My Willingness To Be Intimate With My Own Deep Feelings Creates The Space For Intimacy With Another.

The Disowned Parts Of Ourselves Are What Get In The Way Of Us Having The Relationships We Long For, The Careers We Don't Know How To Create, And The Goals We Want To Achieve. It Is By Getting In Touch With All The Parts Of Ourselves - By Having A Gentle Dialogue With All The "selves" We Have Inside - That We Integrate Them Into A More Comfortable, Peaceful Way Of Being With Ourselves.

When We Consistently Suppress And Distrust Our Intuitive Knowingness, Looking Instead For Authority, Validation, And Approval From Others, We Give Our Personal Power Away.

We May Overcompensate For Our Feelings Of Powerlessness By Attempting To Control And Manipulate Other People And Our Environment. Or We May Eventually Burst Forth With Uncontrolled Rage That Is Highly Exaggerated And Distorted By Its Long Suppression.

If I Could Identify One Core Problem About The World, It's That We've Been Taught To Distrust Ourselves.

Through Lovingly Embracing The Full Range Of Our Experience- Human And Divine- We Can Heal The Split That Existed Between The Spirit And The Form, In Ourselves Individually And In The Whole World.

Everything That Happens To Us Can Be Looked At As A Gift. Although It's Quite Difficult When You're In The Middle Of A Hard Struggle With Something, It's Hard To See It As A Gift, But In Retrospect, We Can Almost Always Look Back And Say, "oh, I See Why I Had To Go Through That."

I Do Believe That One Of The Major Ways That We're Out Of Alignment With Our Souls Is In Our Disconnect From Nature. I Feel That We Have Kind Of Lost Our Natural Way Of Being Connected To The Planet. We Need To Be Rooted On The Planet. We Experience Ourselves As Kind Of Isolated From That, And I Actually Think That's A Great Cause Of The Suffering That Many Of Us Are Experiencing, Whether Consciously Or Unconsciously.

Many Of Us Have A Tendency To Deny Any Negative Feelings. We Judge Them As "bad" Or "unenlightened" When, In Fact, They Are Our Stepping Stone To Enlightenment. Our So-called Negative Feelings Or Attitudes Are Really Parts Of Ourselves That Need Recognition, Love, And Healing. Not Only Is It Safe And Healthy To Acknowledge And Accept All Of Our Feelings And Beliefs, It Is Necessary, If We Are To Get In Touch With The Fears And Pockets Of Blocked Energy That Are Holding Us Back From What We Want.

If You Are Feeling Tired Or Ill, Rest. Your Body Will Always Want Rest And Ease If It's Sick. When You Become Quiet, Ask Your Body What You Need To Do In Order To Heal Yourself. Your Body May Tell You To Change Certain Habits, Eat More Wholesome Food, Express Some Feelings, Quit Your Job, See A Doctor, Or It May Have Some Other Message For You, But There Is Always An Answer Available To You. The Key Is To Ask And Then Listen Honestly For A Response.

While No Amount Of Financial Wealth Can Guarantee An Experience Of Prosperity, It Is Possible To Experience Prosperity At Almost Any Level Of Income, Except When We Are Unable To Meet Our Basic Physical Needs.

Every Time You Have A Desire, In A Certain Sense You Have A Goal, Something You Would Like To Be, Do, Or Have. Some Desires Are Merely Passing Fancies, But Others Stay With Us And Go Deeper. Our Desires And Our Goals Give Us Direction And Focus. They Help Point Us Down Our Path Of Action In Our Life.

We Are Attracted To People Who Express The Qualities We Deny Or Repress In Ourselves.

The Body Is Our Primary Feedback Mechanism Which Can Show Us What Is And Isn't Working About Our Ways Of Thinking, Expressing, And Living. As We Live Our Truth More Fully And Freely, Our Body Grows Healthier, Stronger, And More Beautiful.

We Will Discover The Nature Of Our Particular Genius When We Stop Trying To Conform To Our Own Or Other People's Models, Learn To Be Ourselves, And Allow Our Natural Channel To Open.

All Of Us As Human Beings Are Connected By One Energy And Consciousness. So We All Affect Each Other And Everything That's Happening In The World Affects Us Individually. And What We're Each Doing As An Individual Affects What's Going On In The World.

We Have Been Accustomed To Thinking That We Have To Get Something From Outside Us In Order To Be Happy, But In Truth It Works The Other Way: We Must Learn To Contact Our Inner Source Of Happiness And Satisfaction And Flow It Outward To Share With Others-not Because It Is Virtuous To Do So, But Because It Really Feels Good.

If You Constantly Think Of Illness, You Eventually Become Ill; If You Believe Yourself To Be Beautiful, You Become So.

Eventually I Lost Interest In Trying To Control My Life, To Make Things Happen In A Way That I Thought I Wanted Them To Be. I Began To Practice Surrendering To The Universe And Finding Out What "it" Wanted Me To Do.

That Has Been My Personal Relationship With God-a Connection With The Powerful, Loving, Wise Energy In All Of Us, In All Creation. It Is The Life Force Itself. We Can All Have Contact With It Each Moment In Our Lives, But It Takes Commitment And Practice. We Must Be Willing To Move Through All Our Deepest Fears, Doubts, And Misunderstandings.

When I'm Trusting And Being Myself As Fully As Possible, Everything In My Life Reflects This By Falling Into Place Easily, Often Miraculously.

As You Learn To Consciously Observe The Transformation Process, You Will Watch Yourself Repeating A Lot Of Old Patterns Long After You Seemingly Know Better. Spiritually And Intellectually, You Realize There Is Another Way, But Emotionally You Are Still Clinging To The Old Habits. This Is A Difficult Time. Try To Be Patient And Compassionate With Yourself. When You Recognize The Futility Of An Old Pattern So Clearly, It's About To Change! A Short Time Later, You Will Suddenly Begin To Respond Differently, In A More Positive Way.

The Union Of Feminine And Masculine Energies Within The Individual Is The Basis Of All Creation.

Many Of Us Have Had The Attitude That Life Is Something That Happens To Us And That All We Can Do Is Make The Best Of It. It Is Basically A Victim's Position, Giving Power To People And Things Outside Of Ourselves. We Are Beginning To Realize That The Power Rests In Us, That We Can Choose To Create Our Life The Way We Want It To Be.

Practice Following Your Intuition In Everyday Things, Trusting Your Gut Feelings Moment By Moment And Acting On Them As Best You Can. As You Learn To Trust Yourself In Smaller Matters, You Will Build Power And Confidence To Take Bigger Risks And Deal With The Larger Issues In Your Life Successfully.

When I Wrote Living In The Light, I Wanted To Share About How I Live My Own Life And To Encourage People To Tap Into Their Own Inner Wisdom.

Our "life Education" Has Not Necessarily Taught Us A Satisfying Way To Live. We Suffer From A Vague Sense That There Must Be Something More, Some Deeper Meaning. We Must Return To Kindergarten And Start To Learn A Way Of Life That Is Contrary To The Way We Approached Things Before-a Way Of Life Based On Trust Of Our Own Inner Truth. Assertiveness Is Not What You Do, It's Who You Are!

We Are Living In A Very Exciting And Powerful Time. On The Deepest Level Of Consciousness, A Radical Spiritual Transformation Is Taking Place. I Believe That On A Worldwide Level, We Are Being Challenged To Let Go Of Our Present Way Of Life And Create An Entirely New One. We Are, In Fact, In The Process Of Destroying Our Old World And Building A New One In Its Place.

As Human Beings We Have Vulnerabilities. We Also Have Power, But We Can't Just Be Powerful All The Time.

We All Have Within Us A Deep Wisdom, But Sometimes We Don't Know We Have It. We Live In A Culture That Doesn't Acknowledge Or Validate Human Intuition And Doesn't Encourage Us To Rely On Our Intuitive Wisdom. Much Of The Western World Emphasizes Rationality And Reason, But Overlooks Or Ignores The Enormous Value Of Intuition And Instinctive Wisdom.

What I Am Actually Saying Is That We Need To Be Willing To Let Our Intuition Guide Us, And Then Be Willing To Follow That Guidance Directly And Fearlessly.

Ambition Is An Idol, On Whose Wings Great Minds Are Carried Only To Extreme; To Be Sublimely Great Or To Be Nothing.

While Prosperity Is In Some Ways Related To Money, It Is Not Caused By Money.

When You're Following Your Energy And Doing What You Want All The Time, The Distinction Between Work And Play Dissolves.

We All Have Within Us A Deep Wisdom, But Sometimes We Don't Know We Have It.

As Long As We Focus On The Outside, There Will Always Be That Empty, Hungry, Lost Place Inside That Needs To Be Filled.

No Scoundrel Is So Stupid As To Not Find A Reason For His Vile Conduct.

Notice What Happens When You Doubt, Suppress, Or Act Contrary To Your Feelings. You Will Observe Decreased Energy, Powerless Or Helpless Feelings, And Physical Or Emotional Pain. Now Notice What Happens When You Follow Your Intuitive Feelings. Usually The Result Is Increased Energy And Power And A Sense Of Natural Flow. When You're At One With Yourself, The World Feels Peaceful, Exciting, And Magical.

The Process Of Change Does Not Occur On Superficial Levels, Through Mere 'positive Thinking.' It Involves Exploring, Discovering, And Changing Our Deepest, Most Basic Attitudes Toward Life.

Problems Are Messages.

Receiving And Giving Are Opposite Energies That Are Inextricably Linked Together In The Natural Flow Of Life, Like Inhaling And Exhaling. If One Aspect Of That Cycle Doesn't Function, The Entire Cycle Ceases To Function And The Life Force Cannot Move Freely. If You Can't Inhale, You Will Soon Have Nothing To Exhale, And Before Long, Your Body Will Be Unable To Continue Living.

I Believe That Everybody Needs To Tell Their Story - To Be Heard, To Be Seen, To Be Acknowledged, To Be Understood. We All Want That, Deep Down Inside - And Writing A Book Is A Great Way To Make Sense Of Your Own Experience And To Share It With Others.

My Willingness To Be Intimate With My Own Deep Feelings Creates The Space For Intimacy With Another.

We Can Learn To Move Into The Unknown With The Confidence That We Have A Guiding Force Within Us That Is Showing Us The Way.

Evil (ignorance) Is Like A Shadow-- It Has No Real Substance Of Its Own, It Is Simply A Lack Of Light. You Cannot Cause A Shadow To Disappear By Trying To Fight It, Stamp On It, By Railing Against It, Or Any Other Form Of Emotional Or Physical Resistance. In Order To Cause A Shadow To Disappear, You Must Shine Light On It

Our Relationship To Money Reflects How We Feel About Our Power To Affect The World. Since Money Is A Mirror Of Our Consciousness, The More Comfortable We Are With Being Powerful, The More Money We Are Likely To Create In Our Lives.

Healing Ourselves On The Spiritual Level Involves Developing A Strong Connection With Our Soul. We Heal Ourselves On The Mental Level As We Become Aware Of Our Core Beliefs, Release Those That Limit Us, And Open To More Supportive Ideas And Greater Understanding. Emotional Healing Takes Place As We Learn To Accept And Experience The Full Range Of Our Feelings. And We Heal Ourselves On The Physical Level When We Learn To Honor And Care For Our Bodies, And For The Physical World Around Us.

Following Our Inner Guidance May Feel Risky And Frightening At First, Because We Are No Longer Playing It Safe, Doing What We 'should' Do, Pleasing Others, Following Rules, Or Deferring To Outside Authority.

Playing It Safe

The More We Have Given To Ourselves, The More We Have To Give To Others. When We Find That Place Within Ourselves That Is Giving, We Begin To Create An Outward Flow. Giving To Others Comes Not From A Sense Of Sacrifice, Self-righteousness, Or Spirituality, But For The Pure Pleasure Of It, Because It's Fun. Giving Can Only Come From A Full, Loving Space.

We Always Attract Into Our Lives Whatever We Think About Most, Believe In Most Strongly, Expect On The Deepest Level, And Imagine Most Vividly.

Every Time You Don't Follow Your Inner Guidance, You Feel A Loss Of Energy, Loss Of Power, A Sense Of Spiritual Deadness.

Each One Of Us Has All The Wisdom And Knowledge We Ever Need Right Within Us. It Is Available To Us Through Our Intuitive Mind, Which Is Our Connection With Universal Intelligence.

My Inner Guidance Is There For Me To Call On Anytime I Need Or Want Extra Clarity, Wisdom, Knowledge, Support, Creative Inspiration, Love, Or Companionship.

We Need To Learn To Listen Deeply To Ourselves And To Trust What We Hear. And We Need To Risk Acting On What We Feel To Be True. Even If We Make Mistakes, We Must Do This In Order To Learn And Grow.

Very Seldom Do We Receive Any Support For Trusting Ourselves, Listening To Our Own Sense Of Inner Truth, And Expressing Ourselves In A Direct And Honest Way.

By Viewing Our Relationships With Friends, Family, And Co-workers As Mirrors, As Teachers - We See That They Are Reflecting Back To Us Exactly What We Most Need To Learn.

At Least A Certain Amount In Our Lives - We Don't Need To Do Half And Half; It's Okay If We're Doing A Lot Of Doing, We Just Need Some Being Mixed In.

You Create Your Opportunities By Asking For Them.

Personal Healing On All Levels - Physical, Emotional, Mental, And Spiritual Comes When We Get In Touch With Our Disowned Energies.... Through Integrating All Aspects Of Ourselves, We Become Whole.
