This Church Does Not Belong To Its President. Its Head Is The Lord Jesus Christ, Whose Name Each Of Us Has Taken Upon Ourselves. We Are All In This Great Endeavor Together. We Are Here To Assist Our Father In His Work And His Glory. Your Obligation Is As Serious In Your Sphere Of Responsibility As Is My Obligation In My Sphere. No Calling In This Church Is Small Or Of Little Consequence.

Woman Is God’s Supreme Creation. Only After The Earth Had Been Formed, After The Day Had Been Separated From The Night, After The Waters Had Been Divided From The Land, After Vegetation And Animal Life Had Been Created, And After Man Had Been Placed On The Earth, Was Woman Created; And Only Then Was The Work Pronounced Complete And Good.

Baptism Into This Church Is A Serious Thing. It Represents A Covenant Made With Our Heavenly Father. It Is Much More Than A Right Of Passage. It Is A Gateway To A New Manner Of Living, And A New Road On Which To Walk That Leads To Immortality And Eternal Life. It Was Never Intended As A Dead End. Are We Really To Believe That Hours, Leading To Years, Of Television Viewing Will Not Affect Attitudes About Everything From Family Life To Appropriate Sexual Relations?

The Most Important Step You Have Made Or Will Make In Your Life Is Marriage. Its Consequences Are Many, So Important And So Everlasting.. No Other Decision Will Have Such Tremendous Consequences For The Future.

Love For The Lord, Love For His Servants The Missionaries. Missionary Work Is A Work Of Love And Trust, And It Has To Be Done On That Basis.

It Sends Forth To The World Another Witness Of The Divinity Of The Lord. Be Faithful, My Friends. Be True. Be Loyal To The Great Things Of God Which Have Been Revealed In This Dispensation.

Love Can Make The Difference-love Generously Given In Childhood And Reaching Through The Awkward Years Of Youth . . . And Encouragement That Is Quick To Compliment And Slow To Criticize.

Our Whole Strength Rests On The Validity Of [joseph Smith's] Vision. It Either Occurred Or It Did Not Occur. If It Did Not, Then This Work Is A Fraud. If It Did, Then It Is The Most Important And Wonderful Work Under The Heavens.

Our Foundation Is The Gospel Of The Lord Jesus Christ. The Authority Of The Holy Priesthood Is Here, Restored Under The Hands Of Those Who Received It Directly From Our Lord. The Curtains Have Been Parted, And The God Of Heaven And His Beloved Son Have Spoken To The Boy Prophet Joseph In Opening This Last And Final Dispensation. Our Burden In Going Forward Is Tremendous. What Is Going To Matter Is That Dear Woman Who Has Walked With You Side By Side As Your Companion Through All Of The Years Of Life And Those Children And Grandchildren And Great-grandchildren And Their Faithfulness And Their Looking To You … With Respect And Love And Deference And Kindness.

As We Have Been Continuously Counseled For More Than 60 Years, Let Us Have Some Food Set Aside That Would Sustain Us For A Time In Case Of Need. But Let Us Not Panic Nor Go To Extremes. Let Us Be Prudent In Every Respect. And, Above All, My Brothers And Sisters, Let Us Move Forward With Faith In The Living God And His Beloved Son.

It Is My Faith And Conviction That The Constitution Came Not Alone Of The Brain And Purpose Of Man, But Of The Inspiration Of God.

Just As Our Redeemer Gave His Life As A Vicarious Sacrifice For All Men, And In So Doing Became Our Savior, Even So We, In A Small Measure, When We Engage In Proxy Work In The Temple, Become As Saviors To Those On The Other Side.

We Pledge Our Loyalty; We Affirm Our Determination To Be Of Good Courage; We Declare, Sometimes Even Publicly, That Come What May We Will Do The Right Thing, That We Will Stand For The Right Cause, That We Will Be True To Ourselves And To Others. It Is Important To Know When You Feel Down That Many Others Do Also And That Their Circumstances Are Generally Much Worse Than Yours. And It’s Important To Know That When One Of Us Is Down It Becomes The Obligation Of His Friends To Give Him A Lift. My Plea Is That As We Continue Our Search For Truth, Particularly We Of The Church, That We Look For Strength And Goodness Rather Than Weakness And Failings In Those Who Did So Great A Work In Their Time. We Recognize That Our Forefathers Were Human. They Doubtless Made Mistakes. Some Of Them Acknowledged Making Mistakes. But The Mistakes Were Minor When Compared With The Marvelous Work Which They Accomplished.

In Matters Of Honesty, There Are No Shortcuts; No Little White Lies, Or Big Black Lies, Only The Simple, Honest Truth Spoken In Total Candor... Being True Is Different Than Being Honest.

I Am Satisfied That Every Man Or Woman Who Goes To The Temple In A Spirit Of Sincerity And Faith Leaves The House Of The Lord A Better Man Or Woman.

The Home Is Under Siege. So Many Families Are Being Destroyed...if Anyone Can Change The Dismal Situation Into Which We Are Sliding, It Is You. Rise Up, Oh Women Of Zion, Rise Up To The Great Challenge Which Faces You. My Message To You, My Challenge To You, My Prayer Is That You Will Rededicate Yourselves To The Strengthening Of Your Homes.

Watch What You Choose To Do. For Instance, Someone Might Want You To Smoke. Never Forget That I Told You - Don't Do It. Say No.that Can Of Beer That Somebody Wants You To Try, Don't Do It. Don't You Ever Do It.that Drug That Someone Might Want You To Use, Don't Touch It.stay Away From It. It Can Destroy You.

Believe In Jesus Christ, Our Savior And Our Redeemer, The Son Of God, Who Came To Earth And Walked The Dusty Roads Of Palestine - The Son Of God - To Teach Us The Way Of Truth And Light And Salvation, And Who, In One Great And Glorious Act Offered An Atonement For Each Of Us. He Opened The Way Of Salvation And Exaltation For Each Of Us, Under Which We May Go Forward In The Church And Kingdom Of God. Be Not Faithless, But Believe In The Great And Wonderful And Marvelous Blessings Of The Atonement.

Be Strong-be Strong In The Discipline Of Self. How Many Otherwise Good Men Squander Their Strength And Dissipate Their Will And Literally Destroy Their Lives Because They Have Not The Power Of Self-discipline.

The Religion Of Which You Are A Part Is 7 Days A Week. It Isn't Just Sunday, It Isn't The Block Plan, It Isn't Just 3 Hours In Church, It Isn't Just The Time You Spend In Seminary - It's All The Time, 24 Hours A Day, 7 Days A Week, 365 Days A Year.

Bind To You Friends Of Your Own Kind, Friends Who Will Encourage You, Stand With You, Live As You Desire To Live, Who Will Enjoy The Same Kind Of Entertainment, And Who Will Resist The Evil That You Determine To Resist.

Do You Want To Be Happy? Forget Yourself And Get Lost In This Great Cause.

No Matter How Old We Become, We Can Acquire Knowledge And Use It. We Can Gather Wisdom And Profit From It. We Can Grow And Progress And Improve-and, In The Process, Strengthen The Livs Of Those Within Our Circle Of Influence.

The Greatest Job That Any Mother Will Ever Do Will Be In Nurturing, Teaching, Lifting, Encouraging And Rearing Her Children In Righteousness And Truth. None Other Can Adequately Take Her Place.

When Temptation Comes Your Way, Name That Boastful, Deceitful Giant “goliath!” And Do With It As David Did To The Philistine Of Gath.

It Is So Important To See That We Are All Converted, That We Have In Our Hearts A Conviction Concerning This Great Work. It Is Not A Matter Of The Head Only. It Is A Matter Of The Heart. It Is Being Touched By The Holy Spirit Until We Know That This Work Is True, That Joseph Smith Was Verily A Prophet Of God, That God Lives And That Jesus Christ Lives And That They Appeared To The Boy Joseph Smith, That The Book Of Mormon Is True, That The Priesthood Is Here With All Of Its Gifts And Blessings.

Aim High, But Do Not Aim So High That You Totally Miss The Target. What Really Matters Is That He Will Love You, That He Will Respect You, That He Will Honor You, That He Will Be Absolutely True To You, That He Will Give You The Freedom Of Expression And Let You Fly In The Development Of Your Own Talents. He Is Not Going To Be Perfect, But If He Is Kind And Thoughtful, If He Knows How To Work And Earn A Living, If He Is Honest And Full Of Faith, The Chances Are You Will Not Go Wrong, That You Will Be Immensely Happy.

I Condemn Polygamy, Yes, As A Practice, Because I Think It Is Not Doctrinal. It Is Not Legal. And This Church Takes The Position That We Will Abide By The Law.

Christmas Means Giving. The Father Gave His Son, And The Son Gave His Life. Without Giving There Is No True Christmas, And Without Sacrifice There Is No True Worship.

I Wish To Be Up And Doing. I Wish To Face Each Day With Resolution And Purpose. I Wish To Use Every Waking Hour To Give Encouragement, To Bless Those Whose Burdens Are Heavy, To Build Faith And Strength Of Testimony.

I Have Now Been An Officer In This Church For A Very Long Time. I Am An Old Man Who Cannot Deny The Calendar. I Have Lived Long Enough And Served In Enough Different Capacities To Have Removed From My Mind, If Such Were Necessary, Any Doubt Of The Divinity Of This, The Work Of God. We Respect Those Of Other Churches. We Desire Their Friendship And Hope To Render Meaningful Service With Them. We Know They All Do Good, But We Unabashedly State—and This Frequently Brings Criticism Upon Us—that This Is The True And Living Church Of Our Father In Heaven And His Son, The Lord Jesus Christ.

Divorce Too Often Is The Bitter Fruit Of Anger. A Man And A Woman Fall In Love, As They Say; Each Is Wonderful In The Sight Of The Other; They Feel Romantic Affection For No One Else; They Stretch Their Finances To Buy A Diamond Ring; They Marry. All Is Bliss-that Is, For A Season. Then Little Inconsequential Activities Lead To Criticism. Little Flaws Are Magnified Into Great Torrents Of Faultfinding; They Fall Apart, They Separate, And Then With Rancor And Bitterness They Divorce.

The Decisions We Make, Individually And Personally, Become The Fabric Of Our Lives. That Fabric Will Be Beautiful Or Ugly According To The Threads Of Which It Is Woven. I Wish To Say Particularly To The Young Men Who Are Here That You Cannot Indulge In Any Unbecoming Behavior Without Injury To The Beauty Of The Fabric Of Your Lives. Immoral Acts Of Any Kind Will Introduce An Ugly Thread. Dishonesty Of Any Kind Will Create A Blemish. Foul And Profane Language Will Rob The Pattern Of Its Beauty.

There Are Some Men Who, In A Spirit Of Arrogance, Think They Are Superior To Women. They Do Not Seem To Realize That They Would Not Exist But For The Mother Who Gave Them Birth. When They Assert Their Superiority They Demean Her.

Love Is The Very Essence Of Life.

Criticism And Pessimism Destroy Families, Undermine Institutions Of All Kinds, Defeat Nearly Everyone, And Spread A Shroud Of Gloom Over Entire Nations.

The Temple Is Concerned With Things Of Immortality. It Is A Bridge Between This Life And The Next. All Of The Ordinances That Take Place In The House Of The Lord Are Expressions Of Our Belief In The Immortality Of The Human Soul.

I Believe Without Any Doubt That You Are The Finest Generation This Church Has Ever Had.

Let There Be Music In The Home. If You Have Teenagers Who Have Their Own Recordings, You Will Be Prone To Describe The Sound As Something Other Than Music. Let Them Occasionally Hear Something Better. Expose Them To It. It Will Speak For Itself. More Of Appreciation Will Come Than You May Think. It May Not Be Spoken, But It Will Be Felt, And Its Influence Will Become Increasingly Manifest As The Years Pass.

True Love Is Not So Much A Matter Of Romance As It Is A Matter Of Anxious Concern For The Well-being Of One's Companion.

You Are Doing The Best You Can, And That Best Results In Good To Yourself And To Others. Do Not Nag Yourself With A Sense Of Failure. Get On Your Knees And Ask For The Blessings Of The Lord;then Stand On Your Feet And Do What You Are Asked To Do.

Our Entire Case As Members Of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints Rests On The Validity Of This Glorious First Vision. ... Nothing On Which We Base Our Doctrine, Nothing We Teach, Nothing We Live By Is Of Greater Importance Than This Initial Declaration. I Submit That If Joseph Smith Talked With God The Father And His Beloved Son, Then All Else Of Which He Spoke Is True. One Of The Bellwether Marks Of The Growth And Vitality Of The Church Is The Construction Of Temples. We Will Keep On Working To Bring The Temples To The People, Making It More Convenient For Latter Day Saints Everywhere To Receive The Blessings Which Can Only Be Had In These Holy Houses.

Simple Honesty Is So Remarkable A Quality. It Is Of The Very Essence Of Integrity.

Conversations I Have Had With School Principals And Students Lead Me To The Same Conclusion-that...there Is An Evil And Growing Habit Of Profanity And The Use Of Foul And Filthy Language.

God Is Only God When He Is Acting As Such.

The Problem Is, I Think, That So Many Of Us Pray As If We Are Ordering Groceries. We Pick Up The Telephone And Say, 'is This The Right Place To Place My Order?' And We Proceed Right To Dictating Our Order. When We Have Then Ended That List, We Hang Up.

Perhaps Our Greatest Concern Is With Families. The Family Is Falling Apart All Over The World. The Old Ties That Bound Together Father And Mother And Children Are Breaking Everywhere. We Must Face This In Our Own Midst. There Are Too Many Broken Homes Among Our Own. The Love That Led To Marriage Somehow Evaporates, And Hatred Fills Its Place. Hearts Are Broken, Children Weep.

I Challenge Every One Of You Who Can Hear Me To Rise To The Divinity Within You. Do We Really Realize What It Means To Be A Child Of God, To Have Within Us Something Of The Divine Nature?

Tremendous Happiness And Peace Of Mind Are The Results Of Loving Service To Others. Nobody Can Live Fully And Happily Who Lives Only Unto Himself Or Herself.

Great Has Been Our Past, Wonderful Is Our Present, And Glorious Can Be Our Future.

When I Say Do Your Best, I Mean Your Very Best. You Are Capable Of So Much More.

I Am Suggesting That We Spend A Little Less Time In Idleness, In The Fruitless Pursuit Of Watching Inane And Empty Television Programs. Time So Utilized Can Be Put To Better Advantage, And The Consequences Will Be Wonderful.

It Isn't As Bad As You Sometimes Think It Is. It All Works Out. Don't Worry. Put Your Trust In God, And Move Forward With Faith And Confidence In The Future.

There Is Another Serious Thing To Which Many Young Men Become Addicted. This Is Anger. With The Least Provocation They Explode Into Tantrums Of Uncontrolled Rage. It Is Pitiful To See Someone So Weak. But Even Worse, They Are Prone To Lose All Sense Of Reason And Do Things Which Bring Later Regret.

There Have Been Times When A Particularly Heavy Dose Of Such Cynicism Has Caused Me To Reflect That Surely This Is The Age And Place Of The Gifted Pickle Sucker!

Prayer Is The Great Gift Which Our Eternal Father Has Given Us By Which We May Approach Him And Speak With Him In The Name Of The Lord Jesus Christ. Be Prayerful. You Cannot Make It Alone. You Cannot Reach Your Potential Alone. You Need The Help Of The Lord.

Every Sacrament Meeting Ought To Be A Spiritual Feast.

The Constitution Under Which We Live And Which Has Not Only Blessed Us But Has Become A Model For Other Constitutions, Is Our God-inspired National Safeguard Ensuring Freedom And Liberty, Justice And Equality Before The Law.

We Must Work Harder To Build Mutual Respect, An Attitude Of Tolerance, With Forbearance One For Another.

There Cannot Be Peace Where There Is Not Trust; There Cannot Be Freedom Where There Is Not Loyalty

Imagine How Our Own Families, Let Alone The World, Would Change If We Vowed To Keep Faith With One Another, Strengthen One Another, Look For And Accentuate The Virtues In One Another, And Speak Graciously Concerning One Another. Work At Our Responsibility As Parents As If Everything In Life Counted On It.
