If I Had One Golf Course, From A Design Standpoint, One That I Really Love, It Would Probably Be Pinehurst. There's A Totally Tree-lined Golf Course Where Trees Are Not A Part Of The Strategy.

The Senior Tour Is A Good Concept, Although Frankly I'm Not Astounded At Its Continued Success. It Gives A Lot Of Guys An Opportunity To Extend Their Careers.

First I 'see' Where I Want It To Finish, Nice And White And Sitting Up High On The Bright Green Grass. Then There Is This Sort Of Fadeout, And The Next Scene Shows Me Making The Kind Of Swing That Will Turn The Previous Images To Reality.

Focus On Remedies, Not Faults.

Professional Golf Is The Only Sport Where, If You Win 20% Of The Time, You're The Best.

If You Design Something Pretty With Good Golf Shots In It, Then I Think That's The Combination That Creates A Really Nice Golf Course.

I've Wanted To Design Golf Courses Ever Since I Was A Kid. I Suppose It Comes From The Way I've Played The Game. To Find The Proper Way To Play Any Hole, I've Always Begun By Asking Myself What The Architect Has Tried To Do With It.

It Isn't So Much A Lack Of Talent; It's A Lack Of Being Able To Repeat Good Shots Consistently That Frustrates Most Players. And The Only Answer To That Is Practice.

I Always Practice As I Intend To Play.

I Like To Catch Fish And Release Them. I Probably Haven't Killed A Fish That I've Caught In Sport Fishing For 20 Years. No Reason To Kill It. You Know, Just Take It And Release It.

I Played In A Basketball League Until I Was 40 Years Old. I Played Every Monday Night And The Guys Would Say, "you Take Him Out, And You'll See Us Afterwards."

The Worse You're Performing, The More You Must Work Mentally And Emotionally. The Greatest And Toughest Art In Golf Is "playing Badly Well." All The True Greats Have Been Masters At It.

Barbara [my Wife] And I Said A Long Time Ago That If We Were In A Position To Help Somebody, It Would Be Kids. So When We Started The Memorial Tournament (in Columbus, Oh), Nationwide Children's Hospital, Which Saved My Daughter's Life When She Was Less Than A Year Old, Was The Beneficiary From Day One.

My Kids All Do Love To Hunt And Fish. When They Get Together, I Think That's What They Get Together More For Than Anything Else.

I'm More Proud Of The Good Rounds I've Played While Hitting The Ball Badly Than Of The Great Rounds While Hitting The Ball Well. I Understand My Swing Well Enough To Get Myself Through A Tournament And Win It. I've Made It Work.

I Have A Couple [of Grandsons] That Are In College Playing Lacrosse. It's Great And It's Fun. But They All Also Play Golf A Little Bit.

I Play The Father/son Every Year On The Pga Tour Champions. I Split It Between Jackie And Gary As My Playing Partners.

I Was Never Satisfied If I Didn't Win A Major. I Mean, Not That Year Or Any Major I Played, I Wasn't Satisfied Unless I Won It. But That's What Our Goals Are. I'm Sure That These Guys' Goals Are The Same As Mine. They Want To Win Every Time They Play. If You Don't Win, Then You're Not Happy, Obviously.

If I Have A Weakness, It's Probably Ice Cream. That's Where I Get Lax, Sloppy. I'll Sneak Into The Refrigerator At Night And Take Two Or Three Bites And Put It Back. Butter Pecan. Only Two Or Three Bites, But It Shows.

I First Saw Arnold Palmer When I Was Just A Kid And He Came To Columbus To Play In A Tournament. I Watched Him On The Driving Range Hit Balls That Day. We Went On To Become Great Friends.

Tiger Woods Has Been Unlucky With His Body. I Don't Know Whether Some Of It Is Self-induced Or Some Of It Is Just Unlucky. But We Never Know What Happens With Guys.

There Isn't A Flaw In His Golf Or His Makeup. He Will Win More Majors Than Arnold Palmer And Me Combined. Somebody Is Going To Dust My Records. It Might As Well Be Tiger, Because He's Such A Great Kid.

Augusta National Is A Young Man's Golf Course, And You Really Need A Young Man's Nerves To Play On It.

Nick O'leary Loves To Compete. His Work Ethic Is Fantastic, And That's What I Like About Him. He Works, And Works, And Works; And If He Has To Get Better, He Gets Better.

Nick O'leary Is A Tough Kid. He Doesn't Use Gloves. It's Freezing Outside And He's Obviously Wearing Short Sleeves Like All The Other Guys That Let Their "guns" Stick Out.
