It Is Clear That Germany Needs A Foreign Policy In Which We Jointly Define European Interests. Thus Far, We Have Often Defined European Values, But We Have Been Much Too Weak In Defining Mutual Interests. To Preempt Any Possible Misunderstandings: We Cannot Give Short Shrift To Our Values Of Freedom, Democracy And Human Rights.

I Am Certain That The United States Next Year, Under A New President - Regardless Whether It's Obama Or Mccain - Will Present An Ambitious Program Promoting Renewable Energies And Energy Efficiency. Europe Could Quickly Fall Behind.

The Truth Is That Moscow, Beijing And Washington Have One Thing In Common: They Don't Value The European Union At All. They Disregard It.

The Production Of Natural Resources In Agriculture, Forestry And Fisheries, Stable Natural Hydrological Cycles, Fertile Soils, A Balanced Climate And Numerous Other Vital Ecosystem Services Can Only Be Permanently Secured Through The Protection And Sustainable Use Of Biological Diversity.

Besides Germany, The Only Countries That Don't Have Speed Limits Are Places Like Nepal, Where Road Conditions Are So Bad That A Limit Would Be Beside The Point. In Other Words, It's A Little Crazy That This Is Even A Topic For Debate In Germany.

In The Business Of Politics, Emotions And Productive Dissatisfaction With The World In Which We Live Today Are Gradually Being Covered Up By The Minutiae Of Ordinary Life.

I Hope That A German Foreign Policy In 2028 Will Be Part Of A European Foreign Policy, Because Even The Strong Country Of Germany Won't Really Have A Voice In The World If It Is Not Part Of A European Voice.

The Task For Germany Today Is - Through Its Own Policies And Its Own Structural Reforms, Its Own Investments - To Support The Eu And The Commission... But Every Nation Has To Have The Courage To Broach Such Structural Reforms And Speak Clearly About Them Without Making People Be Afraid.
