When I Was In My Early Forties, I Slept With A Loaded Gun Under My Bed. Id Become Severely Depressed In My Thirties, And For Almost A Decade I Spiraled Down Into Paranoia, Rage, Self-loathing, And Thoughts Of Suicide.

Nothing Can Cost You Someone You Love. The Only Thing That Can Cost You Your Husband Is If You Believe A Thought. That's How You Move Away From Him. That's How The Marriage Ends. So, How Do You Get Back To Heaven? To Begin With, Just Notice The Thoughts That Take You Away From It. You Don't Have To Believe Everything Your Thoughts Tell You. Just Become Familiar With The Particular Thoughts You Use To Deprive Yourself Of Happiness. It May Seem Strange At First To Get To Know Yourself In This Way, But Becoming Familiar With Your Stressful Thoughts Will Show You The Way Home To Everything You Need.

Every Single Human Being Is Trying His Best. We're All Doing The Best We Can. But When We Believe What We Think, We Have To Live Out Those Thoughts. When There's Chaos In Our Heads, There's Chaos In Our Lives. When There's Hurt In Our Thinking, There's Hurt In Our Lives. Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself? I Always Have. When I Hated Me, I Hated You. If You Want Real Control, Drop The Illusion Of Control; Let Life Have You. It Does Anyway. You’re Just Telling Yourself The Story Of How It Doesn’t.

Fear Has Only Two Causes: The Thought Of Losing What You Have Or The Thought Of Not Getting What You Want.

I've Heard People Say That They Cling To Their Painful Thoughts Because They're Afraid That Without Them They Wouldn't Be Activists For Peace. “if I Feel Peaceful,” They Say, “why Would I Bother Taking Action At All?” My Answer Is “because That's What Love Does.” To Think That We Need Sadness Or Outrage To Motivate Us To Do What's Right Is Insane. As If The Clearer And Happier You Get, The Less Kind You Become. As If When Someone Finds Freedom, She Just Sits Around All Day With Drool Running Down Her Chin. My Experience Is The Opposite. Love Is Action.

The World Is What You Believe It To Be, And It Changes As You Change.

Suffering Over Things That Have Happened To Us Is Nothing More Than An Argument With The Past.

Inquiry Appears To Be A Process Of Thinking, But Actually It's A Way To Undo Thinking. Thoughts Lose Their Power Over Us When We Realize That They Simply Appear In The Mind. They're Not Personal. Through The Work, Instead Of Escaping Or Suppressing Our Thoughts, We Learn To Meet Them With Unconditional Love And Understanding.

When You're Operating On Uninvestigated Theories Of What's Going On And You Aren't Even Aware Of It, You're In What I Call "the Dream." Often The Dream Becomes Troubling; Sometimes It Even Turns Into A Nightmare. At Times Like These, You May Want To Test The Truth Of Your Theories By Doing The Work On Them. The Work Always Leaves You With Less Of Your Uncomfortable Story. Who Would You Be Without It? How Much Of Your World Is Made Up Of Unexamined Stories? You'll Never Know Until You Inquire.

I Was Full Of Rage. My Self-esteem Was So Low That I Actually Slept On The Floor Every Night, Because I Didn't Believe I Deserved A Bed To Sleep In.

A Thought Is Harmless Unless We Believe It. It’s Not Our Thoughts, But Our Attachment To Our Thoughts, That Causes Suffering. Attaching To A Thought Means Believing That It’s True, Without Inquiring. A Belief Is A Thought That We’ve Been Attaching To, Often For Years.

When People Are Talking About Manifesting, We Can Say, "i Want A Car, I Want A Car, I Want A Car," But If The Mind Is Running, "i Don't Deserve It, I'll Never Be Able To Afford It, I'll Never Be A Success" - If All Those Things Are Running - Then Those Things Are What We're Really Manifesting. They Are Exactly What's Running Our Life. And As Long As We Believe Those Thoughts, Thinking Positively Is Not Strong Enough To Override Our Negative Beliefs.

Any Stressful Thought That You Have About The Planet, For Example, Shows You Where You Are Stuck, Where Your Energy Is Being Exhausted In Not Fully Meeting Life As It Is, Without Conditions.

I Love What I Think, And I'm Never Tempted To Believe It.
